Personal Finance Budget Excel Workbook

Have you checked out the personal finance & budgeting Excel templates available for free download on the Microsoft website?

I don't use any of them but they are pretty comprhensive for spreadsheet applications.

I built one but I haven't updated the tax information.

Nah. They wouldn't do that.....

I haven't look at the templates you referred to so I'm just talking out of my anal orifice here, but if their budgeting/personal finance spreadsheets has the user inputting his expenses, such as "Dinner at Ruth's Chris = $174.00" then that type of info would be very helpful to GOOG in their targeted advertising and in their selling of mailing lists to advertisers.

Just think of data that could be mined from such information on an expenditure spreadsheet.

ETA: And I'd be willing to bet the user would give GOOG permission to access those spreadsheets on his PC when he clicks on the "I Agree" button on the ever-present "Terms of Service" 20+ page document that none of us ever reads but the user must click on before he can download the "free" software.

i just have months and data for each month in there that i can compare months to each other so i'm not worried about it, but there aren't ad's on the google docs page so idk, how all that works. use exel i was just offering up a suggestion. the google docs section though has user made templates so there are thousands of them to choose from.

Yes I have tried mint.com however I have an uneasy feeling with them having access to all my accounts. Secondly, I don't really want the auto update my accounts feature. I just want to know expenses versus projected income.

It's for planning purposes only. Mint is great real time to track but I don't care about tracking I just want to use it for planning various scenarios.

I have an Excel sheet for financial planning purposes. I have data for income, deductions, taxes, expenses, credit, bank accounts, and investments, with projections for this year and next. I also have a rough retirement calculator using some of those numbers. I use mint to track monthly budgeting.

I can make a template but I only have the taxes and deductions calculated for my income range.
