re: Personal Finance Budget Excel Workbook

It's for planning purposes only. Mint is great real time to track but I don't care about tracking I just want to use it for planning various scenarios.

Yes I have tried mint.com however I have an uneasy feeling with them having access to all my accounts. Secondly, I don't really want the auto update my accounts feature. I just want to know expenses versus projected income.

Personal Finance Budget Excel Workbook
Posted by ClownQuestionBro on 7/21/13 at 9:43 pm
I know most people these days just use their own excel files to manage their monthly budget. Is anyone willing to share an existing excel workbook that they utilize? Thank you!

I couldn't even make it past the halfway point of the first episode. I thought it was terrible.

I watched it years ago. I thought it was very well done you obviously cannot compare it to BSG's greatness. As a standalone it is watchable.

The hello darkness my old friend theme with Gob is one of the greatest things I've ever seen in my life. The mariachi version put it over the top in the lead.

Comes into a legitimate thread and derails it because he suspects me to be an alter of someone else I have no idea who it is. Here is the thread in question. He needs to stop stalking me and derailing legitimate threads.

Yeah with all those places closed everyone is packed like sardines on the major FOBs and more worried about the clothes you are wearing to the shower and calling you out via command climate surveys than being men and approaching you about it. No one gives a shite about prosecuting the enemy and fighting the war anymore except a select few groups. Most people are too busy hanging out at the USO and eating at the DFAC 5 times a day. Sickening.

No I don't know anyone from there. I graduated flight school and 6 months later I was in Afghanistan. Pretty lucky as far as timing goes.
By down south I'm guessing your talking KAF? My sister company probably ripped those guys as the timeframes match up perfectly.

SFAATs still regularly go to Blessing and whatnot which I believe is now termed Nagalam. Whenever ANA take over the FOBs they are changing the names to some BS or another.

Blessing is closed now along with 99% of the Kunar. The Pech is completely closed. About 2 months after I arrived is when the retrograde started to happen. I'm at Fenty.

RC-W and RC-S pretty flat and vast expanses of desert. RC-E is very lush in the river basins and extremely mountainous. You can fly all day in the Rockies and it is nothing compared to how formidable and rugged the mountains are here. A good depiction of RC-E is the show Restrepo. That takes place in the Korengal Valley which is an offshoot of the Pech Valley which is an offshoot of the Kunar Valley. All of the aforementioned valleys currently are in my AO so I fly up and down those valleys and over that mountainous terrain daily. Basically from my FOB you go directly east for 80 miles on HWY 7 and you are in Peshawar the #1 bad guy city in Pakistan. Continue just slightly farther east and you hit the second worst city of Islamabad. Insurgents were overrunning places like COP Bostick when Americans were there these Afghans have almost zero hope of holding the Kunar or any of the other valleys in northern RC-E. The border is extremely porous. Most of the real fighting happens in RC-E. Extremely kinetic.

It's a 100% different war down there in Helmand. Personally speaking I'm glad I deployed to RC-E and fought in the fight I did.

What program are you guys using to track your investments all in one place? I would like something that produces charts, calculates cost basis, etc. Excluded are Microsoft excel and mint.com.
A Fundamental Question: To Support Your Child's Post-Secondary Education or Not?
Posted by ClownQuestionBro on 6/27/13 at 7:41 am
Assumptions...
3-4 children
1-2 years age seperation between them
Oldest is currently 2 months
Current age of parents 25, 31
Age when first child enters college 43, 49
Do you ...
Option 1. Begin saving for your child in a 529 or other similar investment vehicle so when the time comes you can help offset the costs of rising post-secondary education.
Option 2. Use the money you would have put in option 1 and place in either a retirement vehicle or other investment solution and when the time comes to help offset costs such as cost of living for your children during college.
Pros...
Option 1. If your child gets a scholarship or does not get a scholarship either way out of High School you can financially support their education. Thus placing your child in an extremely advantageous position once graduated with zero debt.
Option 2. Places my wife and I in a more comfortable position for retirement/non-discretionary spending, while instilling work ethic and a sense of accomplishment in our children by forcing them to pave their own path either through scholarships, grants, jobs, etc.
Cons...
Option 1. Takes away from our retirement funding and non-discretionary funds. May instill a sense of entitlement or ungratefulness in children.
Option 2. Straddles your children with debt right at the onset of their adult lives.
