I'm wondering if there will be some good buys at pawn shops especilly if SNAP benefits get delayed. Might could pick up something valuable and later sell it on ebay or something. I wonder if pawn shops are getting overrunned yet.

I had an uncle that would buy guns from people needed some emergency money.

I try not to go to pawn shops that would be affected by this

I’d rather buy some dudes tools so his wife can bail him out from a dui than a stolen car radio

Maybe if you get excited at the opportunity to pick something up that a family needs to sell to put food on the table, you should take a step back

If the family can't pay back the loan it's over for them as far whatever they pawned and it becomes just another item for sale on the secondary market.

And they did get paid for an illiquid asset even if it was at a deep discount, so it's not like they got nothing out of the deal.

I think you missed the point. This place draws some sadistic levels of schadenfreude. People don’t just find joy in others misfortune they also seem to find pleasure being the one to cause it.

They aren't, and people who would pawn stuff for food money would be pawning junk anyway.
