Have been with Discover checking for quite some time and will be closing the account soon as they sent me a letter in the mail stating my account would be switched over to shite 1 to which I want no part of.
Preferable customer service if I call and speak to Alex in Phoenix or Sam in Utah, not some jihadi in whatever shithole country they reside in.
With all that being said, any recs ya'll have used/using?

If you don't have a credit Union you like in your area, i would go with the fidelity cash management and/or Schwab checking accounts.

I have been pleased with SoFi.
Why are you needing to call them so much? Ive had my SoFi checking account now for 3 years and I have not had to pick up the phone once to call them.

My main account is with a local credit union. I like having a backup stash account.

Small things have happened like double charges, fraud once, etc. I just don’t have any desire to speak about money to someone who can’t speak English.

Ive dealt with these things directly through the app by disputing them and they always get resolved. Never spoke to anyone.

I've been with Capital One since the 2005 when they bought Hibernia Bank, and I think I've called them maybe twice. Talked to Americans. Maybe it's changed; I haven't called in years. I did formerly go to a branch for some things, but they closed it years ago; I try to stay out of the one branch that is left in town.
I have accounts with other banks, credit unions, Discover, and Fidelity, but the Cap One online system is the best for me, so that's what I use as my main checking account.

I have a C1 checking accout and have had no issues.
I also have a checking account with Commercial Capital. They pay 8% interest in a checking accout up to a limit of $35,000 if:
1. You have at least one direct deposit a month
2. You have at least 15 cleared debit transactions a month

Same. I do my direct deposit, billpay, and atm/debit card with Fidelity CMA (cash mgmt acct) for several years now. Fyi Fidelity CMA re-imburses all ATM fees (even overseas).
ETA: In the CMA account I keep cash in a Fidelity money market fund (FDLXX) to earn interest. What's nice with Fidelity, is that there is no need to sell the money market fund before withdrawing. Fidelity treats its own money market funds as cash. Almost every other brokerage would require you to first sell the fund and then wait 2-3 business days before withdrawing.
