Thought I'd ask here on money board for tips on negotiating a f150 that is already a little over $10k off MSRP due to various rebates and incentives offered. How do I negotiate off of this?

I'm familiar with Will Covers method, but he doesn't really cover new vehicles discounted $10-12k off MSRP already going in. I'm assuming they aren't going to come off much more.

Send a a link or a copy of the listing via email to a few dealerships and say "I want this truck, can you beat this price". If they can't or won't take the awesome deal. I do all my negotiating over email now, some dealers won't play ball, then they are just off my list.

They are most likely using every possible discount, some you wont even be eligible for. Also, you'd have to finance at X rate with X bank...only on a few select stock numbers.

MSRP means nothing. Start from dealer cost.

They're actually not using discounts I don't qualify for. I've even got a $1000 discount I do qualify for I'm not including in their "special" price. All XLT F150's are this heavily discounted. Ford had a bad quarter or something and is deeply discounting these trucks. No tricks. Most of the dealerships I've looked at online are advertising the same price give or take a few hundred. This is why I'm not sure how to approach this from a negotiating stance. With these incentives, they're already selling well below dealer cost.

Does anyone know dealer cost on a 2016 XLT 2.7l V6 Eco boost, 302a package, and sport appearance package?

Just keep the thread updated once you make the purchase because I'm looking for the same truck but looking at the 2017 when it is released.

Understand that the incentives come from the MFR the dealer still has room to negotiate, I would damn sure try to get it for less, if they don't want to sell it for less wait a few days and come back

Dealer invoice is a useless metric, it does not matter, there are so many mfr to dealer sales incintives that the public, or for that matter most of the people at the dealership are not privy to, very few people actually know the true cost of any particular vehicle

Do you think they would advertise their lowest, rock bottom price? Put it all out there for their competition to see?

I took the personable, nice guy approach and the sales rep knocked even more for me. I've only bought one vehicle like that. Only one in my life and it was at the end of 2014 though.

You can always walk away if it doesn't work. There are plenty of dealers selling cars

Go closer to the end of the month you might be able to negotiate a little more. The big three generally go down the first 2wks of July for model change and dealers will really want to move previous model years.

LOL, no.

Find two dealers, pit them against each other on similar trucks. You don't need to read 17 pages of Internet drivel to do this. It's an XLT so don't expect another 5K discount.

Good luck.

Not one person on this board knows that answer, so don't worry about it.

Thanks Vetteguy. I found the truck I wanted at A dealership. Got him to $32,580, which is about $11k off of sticker.

Emailed dealer B who has same exact truck and told him to beat that price and i'd buy today. He quoted $32,580, so came off $200, which isn't much, but this truck used sells for $31-$32k according to Bluebook. They're not gonna sell it for much less.

Then my only advice is don't get raped by finance. Everything is negotiable, even the warranty.

I was going to finance through Ford motor credit to get the $500 rebate and then refinance next month with a credit union for what I'm assuming will be a much lower rate.

With Ford, I've been instructed to get the ESP extended warranty(if I decide to do so) as it uses 100% genuine Ford parts. I don't know the rate on this warranty. Anyone know what's a good price? I may not get warranty at all though as most say it's a waste of money. Of course those people probably never encountered an expensive repair.

Is it true I can buy same extended warranty later on? Like in 3 yrs before factory warranty runs out?

Exactly.

Buy from Dealer B, but make sure they don't clip you on the doc fees. In other words, make sure you are gonna pay $32,580 + applicable tax. Some of these dumbasses try to tack on a $300 "title fee" in the deal.

IIRC, you are a younger gal (around my daughter's age or so) and you may not have a ton of exp. with this. Maybe get a older relative to help close the deal (someone who's bought a bunch of cars before). Not a knock on you, I have helped a lot of relatives and friends.

Main thing, just be sure the deal doesn't change when you get to the F&I guy.
