re: Anybody else using their HSA as a retirement vehicle?
Posted by wizard of smart on 3/22/24 at 3:27 pm
I did the math when I was shopping plans. By my numbers, everything has to be perfect. I would have to be making high 6 figures at the least every single year, and have an expected rate of return of 10% each year. Otherwise, you save considerable amounts of money with a non HSA plan.
The point...
re: Payoff house or keep money invested?
Posted by wizard of smart on 2/19/24 at 9:04 am
To me it is a personal question. The math says to keep it invested. I prefer peace of mind. If I was in your shoes and I owed 150k, I would make sure I had something like 300k in the bank. I would pay it off, save some to live off of for 6 months, and put the rest in the market....
What do we see next, S&P 500 at 6000 or 4000?
Posted by wizard of smart on 2/6/24 at 1:54 pm
With major earnings out of the way, I do not see any bad news on the horizon or anything around the corner that could derail this market. Positive earnings from META, AMZN, NVDA. Do the 493 other companies catch up to the Mag 7 or do the Mag 7 run out of steam? Looks like nothing but up. Fear gr...

Pick 2:
Higgins (No Chase)
Diggs (Great Matchup)
Tyreek (coming off an ankle injury vs Cowboys)
What sucks is that Tyreek is the only one who plays on Sunday. Other two are Saturday. Help me not overthink this....

re: For you baws with HSA accounts
Posted by wizard of smart on 10/14/22 at 11:27 am
I wish I could save. I have drained it every year since 2018. Also, it is very nice to be able to spend it on eligible things. Figure out what you can use it with and it becomes very valuable.
2018 Premature birth + nicu stay end of year + beginning of 2019
Was able to delay some payments i...
re: Dumb question about short position, but I'm asking anyway...

Probably the cost to borrow rate. I never short anything. I just buy deep ITM Puts.
Yesterday I bought $480 Spy puts several months out when SPY was around 370. The most Ive paid is a dollar over intrinsic value per contract. I got some yesterday at even value. I dont know why anyone would...
re: Pool costs
Posted by wizard of smart on 8/10/22 at 2:34 pm
I bought a house with a pool. I hate it. I can not fathom anyone would spend even $1 for another headache. Something that cost time or money or both to maintain. You use it for 4 months.
We actually go to the country club pool more :dope:
We do use ours though... about 2-3 times per mon...
re: What is the worst physical pain you’ve ever felt?
Posted by wizard of smart on 8/4/22 at 7:05 am
Broken finger. The actual break didn't really hurt. Felt like a jam really. The worst pain was when my Wonder Woman wannabe 5 year old lassoed the external fixator with her blanket and jerked back really quick....

Lumber is expected to drop at the end of the year...
re: Anyone follow lumber prices?

Lumber prices will stay high for probably the rest of the year....

re: CMC options
Posted by wizard of smart on 12/10/20 at 3:01 pm
This sucks. I was so pumped about my team. I’m rolling Akers tonight.
I have Kamara, Godwin, and Waller. I thought this would be my year and I would cruise to the championship. Taysom Hill is starting again. I could be one and done with one of my strongest teams ever...
CMC options
Posted by wizard of smart on 12/10/20 at 2:26 pm
I just saw he was downgraded to doubtful. Is this spooking anyone?
Waiver Options are Akers, Edmonds, fournette, booker
I would use Akers but it is a Thursday game and cmc might end up playing
What are y’all doing?...
re: If your season is dead...who killed it?
Posted by wizard of smart on 12/8/20 at 12:51 am
A 1-11 team kept me out of the playoffs by beating me by 3 points. All his duds from his dud team went off. I had the second highest points scored in the league. Feels bad
