Not as partisan as you think. I know some conservatives who are openly against data centers too.

It's politics.
The Democrats aren't going to do anything. I would be more worried about individual states.
Bernie Sanders will hold some hearings on data centers. They might pass some legislation about making them provide water/energy, but that is about it. If they stop data centers from being built, we'll just end up using foreign AI compute. Nobody wants that.
The Dems claim they are going to tax the shite out of billionaires and give us Medicare for all. That's not going to happen, either.

The industry suffered a near-total wipeout across the United States. According to comprehensive election trackers like Ballotpedia and Data Centers on the Ballot, voters across 10 states weighed in on at least 41 local ballot measures aimed at curtailing the artificial intelligence infrastructure boom.
The final scorecard was a staggering 45–1 rejection of data center developments (accounting for all multi-part initiatives). In 46 out of 47 decided contests, local communities chose to restrict, block, or delay projects.
The push is real, would expect it to continue because it's widely popular. Exit polls were showing 80% of voting Americans were against data centers
