Nice 20% range off the low again today.
Unfortunately I was in a meeting missing the action.
Fortunately the meeting was way more valuable than a trade today.
Hoping this range keeps up until September.

This would explain the price action, if it can be explained at this stage…

Hold onto your arse!!
I didn’t realize short interest was high at all… Apparently, it is.
Yes, the post is accurate based on available real-time short interest estimates and corroborating details.36
The main claims are:
• Real-time short interest in $MRLN (Merlin, Inc., an aerospace/defense autonomous flight tech company) hit 2.9 million shares as of April 8, 2026 (up sharply from prior days/weeks, per the table).
• This equals 59% of the float.
• The stock is now hard-to-borrow (HTB) with a 55% borrow rate at Morgan Stanley.
Key Verification Details
Public float is very low (recent IPO in Dec 2024 with heavy insider/institutional holdings), making high short % feasible. Yahoo Finance reports public float at 3.6 million shares (with shares outstanding at 84.26 million and insiders holding ~36%).
The poster’s implied float (~4.9 million shares for 59% shorted) is close enough—float calculations can vary slightly by source or recent updates (e.g., lockup expirations or restricted shares). Other sites list it as low-float (~4.9 million in recent trader discussions).
Official short interest (bi-monthly Nasdaq/FINRA reports) is either unavailable or tiny (~0.1% or <30k shares in recent filings), which is normal for lagged data on newer or low-volume names.
“Real-time” short interest (the 2.9M figure + daily ramp shown in the post) comes from platforms like Ortex, which estimate current short positions using securities lending data, ETF flows, and borrow activity (not the official settlement reports).
Ortex has a dedicated MRLN page tracking exactly this, with visible borrow/returned share changes.37 The poster’s table (rising from ~441k in mid-March to 2.9M) aligns with how these estimates update daily. Same account posted consistent lower figures earlier (e.g., ~407k–516k short on the same ~4.9M float). No public debunkings or contradictions appear in recent discussions.
Hard-to-borrow status and 55% rate at Morgan Stanley:
This is broker-specific lending desk data (not public), but 55% annualized is extreme (normal easy-borrow rates are <1%; HTB often 10–100%+ during squeezes). Community replies in the thread itself note similar high rates elsewhere (e.g., 53% at IBKR), and the stock’s low float + rising borrow demand supports it. This isn’t verifiable without direct broker access, but it matches the pattern and has no red flags.
Context
Merlin ($MRLN) has a $700M market cap, volatile price action ($6–14 range), and high volume recently. A ~60% shorted low-float name with expensive borrow fees is exactly the setup traders flag for squeeze risk.
The numbers track with specialized short data services that serious traders use. Official reports lag, so the “real-time” framing is standard in this space. No evidence of fabrication—it’s consistent reporting from a source that tracks this exact data.

I’m trying to decide if I should ride to dump the 550 at 10$ and ride with the 500 at 6.95$ or ride with it all

Tough one. I’m at 410 total. Average is upper 9s.
Considered adding in the 6s, but was comfortable with my allocation.
