My mother and step father are in Indian Village. Quiet and direct access to the Pearl

Did you hear the man say he wants to catch shrimp off his dock?

About time we had another “bash the dirty dell” thread. In case you didn’t already realize, Slidell is the whipping boy for TD.

Granted there are better places around here, especially for families (although the surrounding areas still pale in comparison to other cities)… for a retired couple the lake neighborhoods in Slidell aren’t bad at all.

I agree that it’s a shell of what it once was (or at least tried to be) for families with kids. But for someone that’s retired, probably had what you’re looking for.

I like the sound of that.

We moved to Slidell a couple years ago. A house with a fortified roof will save a 40-50% on insurance premiums; theres a grant program for residents that'll give you 10k towards one. We did ours back in May and was almost 50% savings down to just over 3k. We live in Indian Village which has some houses on the west pearl. Great area and neighborhood, but its def different than where you're coming from. Eden Isles a good choice but there are some others, but you'll always have the threat of hurricanes no matter where you choose.

To go from this:

to this slidell is crazy work. Can't move your pops to you?

If not, then 100% move to the MS gulf coast before slidell

Back story.

I grew up in LaPlace and spent a lot of time in Eden Isles as my grandparents home was one of the first. I used to walk the entire neighborhood bass fishing the bulkhead and the old golf course that is no longer there.

Slidell isn't what it used to be, too many migrants from the south shore moved in. Take a previous poster advice and if you want to be on the water look at the tchefuncte. Much nicer area in Madisonville and Mandeville. Or go to the coast.

A friend of mine’s mom did a huge camp in Pass Christian for a few years and loved it. We caught redfish and trout off her pier behind her camp, they had a golf course close by, and the drive in either direction down I-10 isn’t bad to get to other places of interest.

That said: I just did an 1800 mile road trip around Washington and surrounding PNW last year and would be hard pressed to tear myself away from that.

Well, after spending months searching and looking around, I'm not sure exactly what we are doing, , but Louisiana as a whole has seemed to remove itself from the list.

The income taxes, property taxes and all different flavors of insurance required, etc. have all played part in this unfortunate decision.

You’ll get grief on this board for Slidell but I challenge anyone to find a better spot in SE la for access to quality fishing, hunting and / or water sports than Slidell within 45 minutes of Nola.

I’m not a fan of the sub division life like Eden Isles etc but some love it.

Bayou bonfuca and bayou liberty are worth considering.
