Money to be made as a ticket broker?

Anybody here buy and resale tickets to make some extra cash?
I’ve heard it’s pretty lucrative if you know what your doing. Anybody with experience that would like to share some tips?
Also,
Is it completely legal?
Do you just buy local tickets?
Do your prefer sports or concerts?
How do you find out when tickets are first going on sale?
Sell on stub hub or Ticketmaster?

I made $150 off some Taylor swift tickets. Had a pissed off wife in the process

That’s what made me start thinking about it. I could have made good money with wife’s Taylor Swift tickets and other tickets recently. But usually she wants tickets last minute.
She wanted Aladdin tickets at the Saenger Theatre couple weeks ago. Resale tickets right next to standard tickets were $100-200 more. Half the place was resale ticket. I checked today and they all sold!
Why not just buy popular tickets early for face value and then sell them if I get a good deal or the wife doesn’t want to go?

I love threads like this.
Here is how your posts reads IMO...
"Hey guys...I know you put in the hard work and effort to figure out what works and how to make money doing this, but I am lazy and not willing to put in the effort you did or wanting to learn from making my own mistakes so please tell me everything you know so I can use your information to now be your competitor."

Relax man, Just looking for some friendly advice on something I could do really just for fun. Not trying to steal your secrets and take money out of your pocket.

Money to be made, and money to be lost. Concert tickets are probably safer than sporting events.

Simple economics with the ultimate perishable product. The key is knowing where to buy. It can be illegal. It is not something you can just jump in to.

Recommend focusing on certai types of events and venues to learn the market. Make sure to factor in seller fees.

Ebay is 10% and Paypal is another 3.5%
But many times you can double your purchase price if done right.

Having season tickets for college football is like buying a stock in the team. Team does well, people getting excited? You make money. Team blows a 34 point lead in the season opener and your coach is shite? You lose money.
Thanks Jimbo

Listened to a pod cast on the topic. The best ones have very specialized computer algorithms to purchase tickets from websites as soon as they hit the market. Unless you have access to that, you may be fighting with one hand tied around your back.

Been doing this for 11 years now on the side. Have never had a losing month. Started out very small but now my annual ticket broker income is larger than my full time job income. Completely legal. Sell exclusively through Stubhub through their Top Seller program that has volume discounts on seller fees.
