I don't need to take either of those since I'm in the Finance concentration. I'll have to take the FIN 730 to begin.

Didn't take FIN730 but do you know who the instructor is? If Vines, should be an easy A.
Agreed w PaulAllen on MADM 751 if you have the opportunity to take w Meeks - probably my favorite course in my program. Didn't take away as much from 752 personally but another relatively easy A.

Just checked and it is Vines that is teaching the course. Thanks for the insight.

Vines is good. Made a B. 75, 78, 80 and a 92 on last test. He's nice.

I just registered for FIN 701 and MADM 715, was thinking of taking ECON 705 with Dr. Shaughnessy instead of FIN 701 in order to combine an easy class with a hard one. What do you all think?
I appreciate the feedback.

Get an MPA in Hospital Admin (I think that is what the concentration is).

Couldn't stand ECON 705. Made a C. That and ACCT have been my only 2 C's. Shaughnessy's tests aren't the easiest. They're multiple choice, just a ton of math.

I can't speak for MADM 715 if you indeed meant 715 and not 751. I paired ECON 705 with ACCT 701 and that was a good pairing.
ECON 705 and FIN 701 could be a bit of a formula/math overload - lots of practice problems in each. I'd recommend ACCT 701 paired with ECON 705 if offered concurrent.
If you meant MADM 751, much time will be spent writing though course matter isn't particularly difficult. ECON 705 was more time consuming than FIN 701, IMO.
My course breakdown:
Spring AP1: MADM 701
Spring AP2: MADM 751, MADM 760
Summer AP1: ACCT 701, ECON 705
Summer AP2: FIN 701, MADM 752
Fall AP1: MKT 701
Fall AP2: ISDS 702, MADM 720

How was MADM 701 and who did you have?
Posted on 4/11/16 at 10:18 pm to AmosMosesAndTwins
Thanks for the responses. My issue is that I was going for the HR concentration and thus there aren't enough courses for me to accomplish that. I can take MADM 752 with BADM 700 but would not help me with the concentration. The other option would be to opt for the general MBA and take what is available. I am trying to stay on track to graduate in December. I have already taken two classes. MADM 715 is employment law. How is ISDS 705-Management Information Systems. That looks interesting.
So or AP1 I have MADM 715 (Felice Williams) and FIN 701 (Chengho Hsieh) and for AP2 I have BADM 700 and ISDS 705.

Mine was general and I can't speak as to any of those you listed, but stick with your intent if you wish to progress with HR. I kept a broad scope.
My advice is to sit down with the 2016 course calendar and map out your entire program before deciding.
BADM 700 should be pretty generic. MADM 715 will likely be terminology and case assignments if I had to guess, but reach out to some of your current classmates - they'll likely have better insight. I have a BS in Finance - FIN 701 is pretty elementary.

AmosMosesAndTwins. I have applied to the LSUS MBA to start next month. I have no business background and am working 20 hrs per week. Do you think taking BADM 701 Fundamentals of Economics and Statistics and MADM 701 Organizational Behavior concurrently in my first term is doable or should I start with BADM 701 only to sense the waters? Also, what do you know of the online MBA at West Texas A&M and the one at Missouri State University? They seem to be priced similarly to the one at LSUS.

There is practically no difference in the perceived value of any of the three programs you listed. LSUS at least looks more recognizable as a state University.

I completed the program as a full-time professional in one of the most chaotic workplace environments I have ever been aware of. It took some sacrifices but if I did it, you should have no issues.
I'm not familiar with the other two programs, but I highly recommend the LSUS online program to anyone interested. Fully accredited and the accelerated degree path is a strong selling point. I believe they may have increased the minimum required program length (don't quote me), but it was well worth it to put in the work to finish in 12 months. If there's a reason you would pursue alternatives, just be certain they are accredited. And Lynx is right - the first thing people will see is MBA and LSU.
I was advised to begin with one course, councidentally MADM 701, and received BADM 701 credit per my BS, but I think they could definitely be paired.

I start my program this fall and I have almost come to terms that my life will suck for the next couple of years. Albeit, I am looking forward to meeting a bunch of people.

Give it hell; it will be over before you know it. I earned an ad hoc raise and separate promotion less than four months after I started my program. My coworkers expressed individually how impressed they were with different things I was putting into daily practice without my even realizing. Our financial growth exploded, some areas more than 50% - helped my resume and intracompany exposure immensely.
One of my favorite assignments was having several of my coworkers grade me on leadership and management qualities from their perspective. Doing that and using their critiques revealed my focus areas and allowed me to grow intensely as a professional. I especially liked MADM 751 because it forced self awareness.

What was your lean canvas project for MADM 751?
