Re: White for ECON, I had no problem with that class. She assumes a base level of math ability. If you can't do the high school equivalent of Algebra 2 and basic geometry, you might need to find some external references to use a refresher.

I am signed up for MKT 701 with Kungu and FIN 701 with Kendall in Summer AP2. Can anyone tell me if this is manageable or I should take these classes one at a time?

Really only thing that looks like I could add on would be ECON 705 with White or Fanta. I am searching this thread, but not a ton of information yet.
Any information on either of these? or should I wait for a better offering
I'm taking Fanta based off recommendations here to avoid White. Though I don't know what, if anything, I should make of White only having a few seats left while Fanta has 50+.

What was the course like in terms of the work being done and tests?

@GoldenSombrero The workload was moderate. She gave us reading questions that basically forced us to take notes on the reading material, and that was helpful. There was usually a weekly homework set or Excel worksheet to complete. Tests were fair but not easy.

I had Dr. White last semester for Econ. For me it was a very time-consuming course. That being said, I am also 49 years old and took economics classes 30 years ago. However I am good at math, and there is a lot of linear math and algebra. The class was a serious time suck for me, but I made it through with an A. She did curve test scores in my class. Tests are proctored, closed book with room scan. As the other person stated, complete her weekly questions. I used to just paste it into Word and complete it there. That is a huge help. Also watch her videos and zoom sessions, even recorded.

@ MADM 701 with Kimberley Williams. Any suggestions?
The class was excellent, she is one of my favorite teachers.

Hi! Have you heard any further feedback on Fanta for ECON 705? I am taking him also but have heard nothing in regards to his class and difficulty?? expectations?

I'm just starting this program and noticed that they've changed the foundation courses to four 1-hour pass/fail classes (ECON 500, FIN 500, ACCT 500, ISDS 500). Have any of you taken these? If so, what's the workload like?

Any suggestion on which class to take first? I'm registered for both and have to drop one.

Hi Everyone,
Any suggestions between the two?
I can take FIN 701/ECON 705 with either the combination of:
Choi/Shaughnessy
Vines/Fawaz
I've heard good things about all of them, but would like to structure the classes as best as I can.
Thank you!

Most would probably tell you not to pair Finance and Econ but if you're savvy with both of them, then youll be fine.
Go with Choi/Shaugnessy if you can.

Thank you! I'm actually not pairing, it's just that my options are taking one each in AP1/AP2 and those are the only "pairings" (Choi/Fawaz AP1 | Shaugnessy/Vines AP2).

bkahn, my advice would be to take MADM with Williams first. That was the class I took second in my program and learned a lot in. It's more labor intensive than MADM 760 but I preferred to get the most labor intensive classes out of the way early in the program. Meeks is my favorite professor and you can enjoy that class later in the program.

EaglePilot:
In case it helps you or someone else, here is what most people have found about the foundation classes (there are exceptions I am sure, but I do not know of anyone who took foundation classes who didn't regret it):
They are a waste of time and money - you should spend that effort and time on real classes that are for credit. You can do it. Really, you can. It doesn't matter that you didn't have business classes in college. It won't affect your ability to do well in this MBA program.
The concept is related to the traditional MBA idea that their students need to have a business degree background and a GMAT score to preserve the quality of students in the program. The students in this program are below what you'd expect. Hard facts. But true. If you have common sense, can dedicate time to study, can navigate the professor and class selections, have any business experience at all, and can read for comprehension, you can do well in this program.
The classes still exist to earn the school more income because they know many people in their target demographic lack confidence - because they haven't been in school for many years or did not study business. Most top students are going elsewhere already. So, do not be fearful. Jump in and get your MBA sooner.
The material in the program is not difficult. The difficulties relate to particular professor antics, finding time to do well, the free text book issue, self-discipline issues, dealing with real-world work and family stuff. Those are the same whether you are in foundation classes or in real classes. If you can manage those things, then just take the real classes.
Pay no attention to the terms behind the curtain. Calculus, economics, statistics, finance, analytics, etc and etc are just terms. They are all basic level in this program. You've had more difficult things to learn in the past. Really, you have. For example, if you can't figure out the formulas in Finance under Vines, it isn't because they are hard formulas. You just need to figure out how he communicates them and go from there. The intro class won't help you. You still would need to figure that out.

I am not in the LSUS program, but what helped me tremendously prepare for MBA quant outside of simply taking the GMAT is a website called MBAmath. It’s something like $149 for a years worth of access and it will get you up to speed on where you need to be.
