Taking class 5 and 6, and so far the only teachers giving anything resembling lectures were Shaughnessy for Econ 705 and Kim for MKT 705. Most of the classes don't even have a general discussion forum, so between no "lecture" and no discussion forum, you have almost no interaction with the teacher aside from directly emailing them. Shaughnessy was one of my first two classes, and so far has the most "complete" feel for an online class. He has lecture videos, zoom sessions, general discussion forum, and an archive of a few past zoom sessions.

Baro - Completly agree. I am on class 5 with Shaughnessy and it feels the most like an actual class.

That's why Dr. S is so revered in these parts. He runs a tight ship and cares about his students. It seems basic but its hard to find in this program. I would say Vines comes in a close second in this regard. The rest of the lot I drew, in my opinion, vary from apathy to train wrecks of condescension and everywhere in between. So glad this is my last term.

Are there and IT folks out there that are implementing data governance frameworks, or that work in environments employing frameworks and automated tools? I will need to implement a framework at a county hospital soon and I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I'll add that Dr. Kim Williams provided lectures and discussion forums for MADM 720. The class was heavy on writing but I appreciated her format as it was similar to Shaughnessy's and a nice change from the hands-off approach that so many other professors employ.

760 with Meeks I thought had a great lecture/interaction feel to it.
There needs to be more classes like this one.
Strategy focused, more philosophical business approaches.
Much more thought provoking and enlightening than learning about FIFO.

I have a question about registering for the Spring sessions. Do you register for AP1 and AP2 at the same time? Or do you do AP2 at a later date?
You can register for AP2 later, but you run the chance of your class/professor of choice not being available.
I recommend registering for both at the beginning of the term.

Agreed cottonseed. Those skill builders are no joke though. I literally don’t know when to stop writing.

Wild that it’s nearly time to sign up for Spring classes and it’s the second week of Fall AP2.
Any thoughts or info on Heller for MADM 701 (organizational behavior)?

The workload for MADM 760 (Meeks) has been mind-blowing! And it's just week 2! This is my 8th class in the program and it has been the heaviest workload thus far.

MADM 720 is just about as heavy. You just have to stay ahead.

More than MKT 701?
MADM 760 with McLaughlin has been heavy, but not as bad as MKT 701. The bigger problem with the class is the tight timeline for the initial discussion post (Tuesday) and the lack of direction in regards to word counts for "mini" discussion forums that don't seem very mini at all once you factor in the fact that there are 3-4 questions and 2 replies required. Perhaps it's just my own habit of overdoing things to try and ensure an A.
The current event papers aren't too bad though, and I much prefer weekly quizzes with less material to cover than a few tests that cover a wide range of material. Meeks is always touted as one of the very best professors in the program... many say better than Shaughnessy who is really the gold standard for me so far so I somewhat regret not having the experience. However, MADM 760 is also routinely counted as one of the top 3 in workload with MKT 701 always being number 1.

Anyone get their grades for week 1 for MADM 760 - McLaughlin? Her rubrics feel weird, so I'd really like to know how I did the first week, and the second week initial discussion post deadline has already passed without any feedback from the first.

Getitdone,
Sorry to bear a dead horse, but I believe the section of Data Camp that we are currently using is actually free...
So essentially, I am paying LSUS nearly $1500 to put me through a free online program and grade me on 6 quizzes, 5 practice problem sets, and one data project.

Technically, we're paying to "borrow" LSUS's accreditation in the context of being evaluated on the completion of content in a free course that we wouldn't otherwise get any kind of credit/degree/certification for.
With that said, I agree that using a free online resource like DataCamp to "teach" a Master's level course is lazy. The fact that the course has ~160 participants and we have paid non-LSUS consultant "coaches" grading what little work there actually is in this course just magnifies the laziness here.

I have to agree here, the workload in Meek's MADM 760 is a lot higher than I anticipated. About 70 pages of reading, Almost two hours of "required" videos to watch, a quiz, a weekly writing assignment, a group writing assignment, and a group video each week. Then a group term project and an individual term project. I'd say that qualifies as the same workload or more than James' MKT 701.

Something was graded but all my module 1 work is not visible in Moodle anymore for whatever reason.
As others have said, I'm flying blind with no feedback and loose rubrics.
