WhoNeedsSleep Do you need a finance calculator for 710 (Hsieh)? My concentration is Finance too but I tend to delay Hsieh's classes after reading so many comments on this forum.

You can just use Excel, but he gives examples using a HP financial calculator. Excel is a lifesaver for me because of the time savings during tests.

Grades are up for Vines (for those that took it later)

Hi, Jeaux Cool, curious if you took MKT 705? Unfortunately, I am only 2 classes in to the MBA program. I had to take a couple of terms off and now that I reregistered it’s slim pickings for AP2. Any guidance is much appreciated. I really don’t want to wait until the summer session if I don’t have to.

Hey guys,
Newly accepted to this infamous program.
Trying to add a class for Spring 18 AP2 and no MBA classes are coming up.
I saw MADM 760 just a couple days ago but not any more.
I emailed my contact in admissions but she has been slow at getting back to me with other questions.
Do classes “fill up” before the registration deadline?
Thanks for any feedback on this.

Yes they do. Keep checking everyday and especially on Feb 28 when a lot of people get dropped for non-payment

It feels like classes filled up a lot more this year and we have a lot more sections running than last. However, there are some slots available in the various electives.
There are always drops right before classes start, but you have to be fast/lucky as a single open seat can go really quickly!
For those new to the program with AP2, a lot of your difficulty in finding classes is because we're basically on the quarter system, and registration for AP2 opened with the semester. It's not like our classes fill up in 5 minutes or anything like that.
ECON705: full
MADM715: full
MADM730: 19 seats open
MADM760: full
FIN720: 28 seats open
MKT705: 50 seats open
ISDS705: full
HCAD750: 72 seats open

MADM760
This will be my first class that involves writing. I have taken all math classes to this point and im 6 classes in. I have no experience with APA format. Does 760 require APA? Also what are the best programs to use for APA? I have been told to try PERLA(? spelling). Any help is appreciated

Awesome thanks.
I’m gunning for a Project Management concentration so some of those open electives don’t fall in my wheelhouse.
I’m holding out hope for MADM 760.
Thanks again

I am nearly 3 classes in and both MADM701 and MKT701 both required citing in APA format as I am sure ALL of the classes requiring writing will do. APA is just a style of citing external references. PERRLA may inject consistency and reduce errors in citation formatting by certainly not necessary. There are many APA citing guidelines out on the web that will guide you just fine.

quote:Assuming you are taking it with Meeks, when I was in the class it only required APA for the final project, which was a 5 page paper and a "business canvas" which is used to summarize whatever case study you'll be using.
Does 760 require APA?
The other weekly writing assignments did not require APA. As far as what I use, I just search Google for APA and go from there. I also have an APA book from the undergrad days and there are citation generators that you can also easily find via Google that can help too.

I was too until I heard about the disaster ISDS715 was this term. I'm going for General Business with a mix of classes that interest me.

Is this disaster detailed on a particular page within the forum?
This concentration is 65% of the reason I chose LSUS.
Thanks

That's an oddly specific percentage as to why you chose a university program lol.
It's a new concentration that is just now being offered. From what I remember reading, the professor is unresponsive to emails and doesn't really engage the students. Maybe some others who are actually in the courses can provide more feedback for you.

From what I read, its a very disorganized class that pulls from PMBOK for its content and is run by a prof that has more experience in industry than academia. This was a class I was interested in as well but was waiting for additional feedback from those currently in the class.

Please don’t take everything I say in a literal sense.
It was more like 58%.
I’m already about half way through my 35 education hours for my PM certification so I figured it would blend nicely.
Teaching right out of the PMBOK is a good way to set someone up to pass the PM exam.
I’m assuming thats the professors intentions for people in that concentration.
And it’s not a concentration like finance that’s as common in academia.

I wouldn't over think this or buy anything. It's seriously easy and not a worry.
I'm assuming Meeks here. He gives you a template to follow. You don't need to buy any software. Just put your references in APA format at the bottom of the paper and appropriately cite the references in the text.
