@Mkt 701
I wrote my first 2 pages today and have not started the readings for this weekends exam. I will get it done, but man it’s a ton of busy work.

Nice, only 20+ more to go. Kidding aside I am about 90% done and am at 22 pages. I also have not touched the readings for this week.

fml. it will be a long week(end)
Everyone said to take this class by itself. I should have listened. even still, it's too much.

20 pages....oh my. I don't plan on taking mkt 701 until fall and I will be taking it by itself thanks to you alls feedback.
And read through all the feedback from the vets about the program. Seems to be similar issues from 1-3 years ago that's happening today. The book change however also concerns me as this luthans textbook for madm 701 is pretty rough.
But I am still confident in the program overall. Was actually in shreveport last week so I swung by the campus. Talked with several students. Got a student ID made lol. Visited the library and university center and business building. I didn't get a negative vibe from anyone or anything. I was and still am proud to say I go to the school.
Changes are uncomfortable and there will be bumps along the way. But I am confident LSUS is making good decisions for the overall long-term benefit of the program.

I find it’s 20 pages of mostly the repeated questions. It’s vey repetitive. This paper is overall more of s busy work assignment than a learning application.

I was thinking the same thing. I am about 10 pages in and have really just repeated the same information but used a few different terms to define the items. It really is just busy work. She spends more time on the course than we do though, there is so much information thrown our way constantly.

Is there a way to actually “search” the forum or do you have to go page by page?

Of course, you'll be searching all of Money Talk, not simply this thread.
Searching just this thread is a little trickier but doable. For example, I'm searching for every occurrence of ISDS in this specific thread.
LINK
Putting "Site:" and a URL limits Google's search to that particular website. Putting "LSUS Online MBA Reviews" in quotes ensures that it's searching just this thread since every thread page will have that exact phrasing on it. Everything else (the ISDS in my example) can be typed without quotes.

DieDaily, thanks for sharing that tutorial on searching the forum. I have long wondered how to.

I have also. Just decided to start doubling up starting this summer and wanted to search the forum for best electives. There’s plenty on core classes, but the electives are kind of all over so this was helpful.

@hannat
@perry
Is there a formula for WACC in the spreadsheets that Perry shared? I didn't see one.
@hannat, I'm specifically looking at problem 4 in the practice set.
Additionally, for purposes of satisfying Dr. Vines, do I need to just put the variables in the formula from the function bar in the test? I know this is how he gives his answers in the practice sets and in the materials. Seems like there is limited value in his ability to give partial credit there, unless he has access to the entire formula as it is entered in the spreadsheet. Am I missing something?

I know this is how he gives his answers in the practice sets and in the materials. Seems like there is limited value in his ability to give partial credit there, unless he has access to the entire formula as it is entered in the spreadsheet. Am I missing something?
For example, I would have a table to the left calculating what I needed for the components of the problem and its eventual answer, but off to the side I would have 2 cells like this.
(In this example, I'm looking at a row in the table that is calculating After Tax Operating Cashflows)
Cell #1: After Tax Change in Operating CFs = (Change in Sales - Change in Operating Costs Per Year) * (1 - Tax Rate)
Cell #2 formula: ="After Tax Change in Operating CFs = (" &F134 & " + " & -F135 & ") * (1 - " & F124 & ")"
Cell #2 result: After Tax Change in Operating CFs = (2000 + 1900) * (1 - 0.4)
Ignoring the Excel syntax for combining strings, you can see that F134 has my change in Sales, cell F135 contains my Operating Costs, etc. This way I could paste cell #1 so Vines could see what formula I was attempting to use and then I could paste the results of cell #2 so he could see my inputs into that formula.
Hopefully that helps rather than increases the confusion.

fml indeed. Just finished and ended up with 31 pages. I did not pursue the "extra credit" of identifying goals and objectives. I could not bring myself to look at this thing for another minute longer to work on it. Anyway Goals and Objectives are Part 2 of this hell.
Good luck to everyone who is still working on this nightmare.
Only 3 exams, a Forum post and reply, Project Part 2 and a reflection paper to go in two weeks. Oh joy
PS. How the hell is this project only worth 150 points when a normal 3 page forum post is 100?

MKT701 Forum Post 2 Grades are up
Posted on 2/15/18 at 12:39 pm to perry_g5
perry_g5 The spreadsheet you shared has everything we need for the problems. Since the spreadsheet is already set up, all you have to do is to plug in the numbers in the exam and all the answers will be automatically calculated for you.

Agreed tha tit seems repetitive.
FYI for those in LIN 705 coming up, he posted a bit more info about when tests are etc. Not much but something.

I am in ISDS705 in AP2 and am hopeful he doesn't change the format. I need a semi easy class coming off of MKT701.
