Hi TigerDragon, I'm enrolled in MADM730 too. It's a new class so we'll be the first students taking it. If I remember correctly, Dr. Menon is the head of the graduate program.

Bamedee, I doubled up ISDS705 (Dr. Lin) with MADM 760 with Dr. Meeks. My thought was to pair one of the easier ones in the program with one that requires a lot of writing. I thoroughly enjoyed MADM 760, learned a ton from Meeks, but it is time-consuming with weekly group work, writing assignments, etc.

hello! i will be taking the same classes and teachers as you. I heard good feedback on both teachers.

I did the same last semester. Enjoyed Meeks but quite the workload. ISDS is what it is

Any one completed MADM701 and FIN710 exams and would like to shed some light ?

Looks like we will be blazing trails with MADM730 next semester.
I hope Lin doesn't decide to change things up next semester.

I just took the exam for MADM701 with Knotts. I ended up with an 88%
Not too bad. You definitely need to read the chapters and watch the videos to get a decent grade. Other courses in this program may lead you to believe that you can review the PPT slides in place of reading the chapters, but for this course I strongly advise reading the chapters. If you're short on time and have to choose between reading the chapters and reviewing PPT slides, I'd go with reading the chapters. I'd also pay attention to definitions and distinctions between terms and theories.

Finally have time to sit down and start working through MADM701 module 1(Knotts) today. Wow, this text stinks--agree with everything already posted about it.
I don't know why they're pushing this free textbook thing, as the program is already a cash cow. I'd much rather pay for a fantastic text than wade through this junk.

Anyone turn in the Application Assignment for Knotts MADM701? After spending all day yesterday writing, I re-read the prompt and just realized it says to demonstrate how one module 1 concept has been put in practice. Do you think I'd be penalized if I use a single practice to highlight more than one concept from module 1?
Am I over-thinking this?

quote:I'm not sure since this is our first graded assignment but I feel like it might depend on how closely related those concepts are. My essay was on flexible work schedules and I included telecommuting in that discussion. The book treats those as 2 separate concepts but I feel like there is definitely some overlap.

Who knows? Maybe I'll be penalized for it? I guess we'll fine out in a couple of days.

If you are penalized for it, it would be an example of the instructor exemplifying that myopic academic exercise prevails over any real understanding of the business world, and exhibit A for why researches who have never had a job outside the academy should not be teachers in an MBA program.
If anything, she should be proud of you for synthesizing. Knotts is the "new" Director of the program so it will be interesting to see the prevailing philosophy.

Have anybody taken the MKT 701 exam 1 yet? how was it?
Posted on 1/21/18 at 9:30 pm to rdw2016
I took the exam last night. It wasn't bad. As long as you did the mandatory readings (two chapters and an article), you'll do fine. No tricky questions, you just have to understand the concepts.

Took it Sat afternoon, very straightforward, hope they're all like that.

Ha no I'm good. I have natural disdain for teachers who "wrote the book" and she falls right in line.

Anyone know why Module 2 hasn't opened yet for MKT701 with James? Granted, she made the reading materials available early but I know nothing else about what she has in store for us this week.
EDIT: Sorry, I have just read that she is "dreadfully ill"
