Yup and don't let the money scare you. I looked and looked for weeks and was close to pulling the trigger on what I thought was what I wanted. Then I ventured outside of my price point and fell in love

All this says to me is:

I make more money than a Tag Heuer or an Omega wearer.

But hey, to each his own. I wouldn't want to wear any of those brands.

wow, big jump to conclusion there. I was looking for a metal band watch and a leather band watch.

The only reason I wont ever wear a omega is because they are a sponsor of sergio garcia and I dislike that prick. nothing wrong with tag and i never said anything bad about them.

I also like bell & ross for leather bands

I wasn't saying that about you, I was saying that about the brands in general.

I absolutely love Bell and Ross watches. I like Sinn watches for metal band watches, but I'm mainly drawn to pilot watches and German styling so I'm not really familiar with much else.

I'd get a Flieger, from Stowa or Laco, a nicer dress watch from Bell and Ross, a Sinn chrono (or make the B&R a chrono instead), and maybe an IWC for special occasions. But that's just me. If I was rich I'd just wear the Blancpain on the first page everyday and not GAF if I beat it up.

You can't control what other people think about your watch or belt or shoes, so WGAF what they think?

That watch absolutely destroys the one in the post before it. I don't see how any non-rapper could say otherwise.

is a watch for people who don't know watches.. they've improved some over the past several years by bringing some movements in house, but they're still mostly crap..

I didn't say it. It sorta feels like the first step for a lot of people to owning a nice quality timepiece. I'll never own one because of their funky arse integrated watch band. And I don't really like them. But I don't knock people who own one.

I'd love to build movements.

This 1969 looks amazing. I mostly have ETA 2824-2 watches but I do have an old A. Schild as well.

A strange thing when I bought my new watch was the choice of 2824-2 movement finishes. I bought the TOP movement just because I like the idea of extra workings on the components.

But for another $70 I could have gotten it with blued screws. Wasn't sure I wanted that.

Not to stir the pot (too much), but I feel like this could be said about. Rolex more than just about any other watch brand. People that just want to say 'Hey- look at me! I have an expensive watch on!' are the ones that buy Rolex. Sure, they can be a good investment and of properly cared for, can hold their value over time, but to me, a Rolex just screams 'I have more money than you do!!!'

The reason I wanted a Tag 3 years ago is because I wanted a nice watch that was a little more understated, and I knew I could get one for ~$2K- I had no idea about the gray market or the secondary market at the time.

I agree with Broke, that they are kind of a 'gateway drug' in that now I want to add to the collection and step up my game in a few years, but I'll never get rid of my Tag (since it was my first) and hopefully one day I'll pass it down to my son.

ETA: j5, that watch is clean as hell, bro!!! And you can save 23%!!!

My humble contribution, both Omega. Planet Ocean 2201.50 and a 1974 Seamaster 176.007.

I said that a Rolex is a nice watch, but its cliche to automatically resort to that when you want a nice watch.

"I have money, I'm going to get a nice watch to show off, I'm getting a Rolex"

There are as nice and nicer watches that are less noticeable to the average person, but respected amongst watch gurus.

It's hard for me to argue that point, since it is the exact reason for this thread. But I also want a Rolex and I do know about watches, so it's frustrating. I complimented a friend's GMT Master recently (not a cliche choice) and he looked at me confused and said "Huh?". That's the disappointing part: so many of their customers have no idea how nice the watch really is.
