I've been looking at this card for a long time, and I took advantage of the 100,000 point bonus they were offering.

Do you guys know some of the obscure benefits? Any info welcomed.

Your best bet is to go to the actual site and read everything it offers

Welcome to the club.

My favorite part is the centurion lounges and the response you get from merchants when handing them the card “Damn this thing is heavy! You must be rich!!”

I have, extensively. I'm sure some people know how to use these benefits better than others.

Walk by a group of girls and have it "fall" out of your pocket

You can no longer buy gift cards to trigger the $200 airline incidental credit.

The monthly Uber credit can be used on Uber Eats so that's easy to use.

$50 every six months from Saks.

Just used the $100 global entry credit on my infant son.

The 5x airfare is cool until you realize it gets no travel protection.

If you don't fly Delta or have a Centurion lounge, I think it's a one year hold and dump. Gold has more useful purposes past year one with 4x dining and groceries and $10 monthly food credit. I use it for GrubHub.

Can you elaborate on this?

The Platinum card does not come with travel insurnace built in, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve does.

On a separate note, you do get purchase protection insurance with the platinum in case whatever you buy fails within the first year.

Also make sure you link your Hilton and Marriot account to the Amex and you’ll get upgraded to gold status instantly. There’s also some similar benefits with the car rentals like Hertz, Avis, etc. You do get car rental insurnace with the card, just make sure to deny the coverage from the rental agency.

Hard to put a price tag on that.

I don’t have a Amex platinum, but I have another metal card and this is by far the worst thing about it. I feel like I have the same conversation every other time I have to hand the card over. Just give me my receipt and let me go on my way.

If you travel a lot it is worth it. Miami’s centurion is the shite. Free massage.

Where did you see an offer for 100k bonus points? I'm seeing 60k

Cardmatch tool

Highly variable if you get the offer or not.

While I haven't seen 100k this way, if you incognito on Amex website you'll see a better offer than the public offer from time to time. For example, 60k public but incognito 75k.

Does the $15 Uber credit have to be used each month or will it continue to accumulate each month until I use it? I usually only uber when traveling which is about every 3 months so I wouldnt use $15 every month, but I may spend $45 on that 3rd month.

I believe you have to use it every month, but I'm not 100% sure.

You can use it for Uber Eats as well. That's going to be my plan if it's a "use it or lose it" situation.

Yes it’s a use it or lose it. I think the month of December gives you a little more than $15 if I remember correctly.

Echo this.

I get 4-5k worth of points and a free lunch via grub hub every month. Also get the $100 airline fee, which simply buys me in flight bourbon. Can’t think of a reason to upgrade.
