Is there a free option to file with?

Turbo tax cost me $100, has to be a cheaper way especially since I have a basic return with no itemizing.

A "basic return" is free with TurboTax. Do you have capital gains?

It charged $40 for state and 60 for fed, once I got to the end it wouldnt let me cancel. Wont be using them again.

I don't think they can charge you if you don't file. Even if it won't let you "cancel"....just close it as long as you don't enter payment info

You must have selected some of their "premium" options along the way. Their basic filing is free.

tax act has free as well, as not as it's a simple return.

Credit Karma will let you efile federal and state for free.

have you tried breaking out a pen and a calculator and just filling the forms out yourself? Did you know that you are allowed to file your tax return via snail mail?

I ran into the same problem this year. We used the new credit karma tax filing. Was completely free and never even asks you to purchase anything
