A couple weeks ago, I was in a parking lot and a young girl backed out and hit me. She just was not looking. Simple accident.

She got out of the car screaming that I did not honk my horn (true) and it’s my fault. She refused to give me her insurance information and started taking pictures of everything.

I called for a police report. The policeman came and it was pretty clear what happened. He took the report and I was on my way.

Today I received a call from her insurance company. She stated that I hit her, was an uninsured driver ( not true) and they intended to pursue me paying for the damage to her vehicle.

They allowed me to tell my side of the story and said they would investigate. They were shocked that the damage to my vehicle was at the back (that blows a hole in the I hit her story) and they were unaware of a police report. She’s also claiming an injury.

Here is the police report diagram of the accident. Do I have anything to worry about? My agent says young people just will not take responsibility but I think she may have targeted me.

They won’t pursue you. They will pay for your repairs though if you make a claim under her policy. If they give you any shite, I’d report the incident to your state’s insurance fraud agency.

You should be fine. Your insurance company will handle it.

How exactly did she target you?

Good. The person calling was very aggressive UNTIL I said the damage was to my bumper and back quarter panel. The police report shows this.

The whole thing was a simple accident. We should have exchanged insurance info and moved on. She went crazy and refused to give me her info. I thought very little of it until I got an aggressive phone call today.

I just pondered her targeting me because she flat lied to her insurance company about the incident, my insured status and her injury.

Na baw, you good. The doctor give you some good muscle relaxers for that stiff neck just in case it needs to flare up later?

People do this all the time. Come up with BS stories on how an accident occurred to try and make it seem like they aren’t at fault. Probably trying to get an injury claim out of it and will likely have an attorney.

Damages , point of impact, things like that don’t lie. If that diagram is accurate you should be good

Edit : I doubt you were targeted. Probably just not paying attention and backed into you

Another edit. Possibly lied about you not being insured because she was trying to get a UM claim out of it and doesn’t realize her insurance company will actually verify stuff like that.

I wouldn’t call that targeting, more like she’s just irresponsible or afraid of the consequences

Make a claim against her insurance. Obvious she’s at fault and the police report backs you up

I’ve seen a very similar situation pay out $105,000. But, you’ll likely be fine. I’m sure she called one of the billboard lawyers and they are leading the charge. They’ll drop her once they see your story and proof. Document all correspondence though.

Like others said, you should be okay because you have police report, but don’t be surprised if her company still finds you 20% responsible because you did not honk your horn. It sucks but they could do this.

I'm surprised you were able to get a police report for an accident on private property....

Have you talked to your insurance company?

Also the first call I would make tomorrow is to the corporate office of her insurer and I would raise bell over the obviously untrained idiot that called you. My second call would be to the state department of insurance to file a complaint.

How TF someone going to call you and say they are going to go after you when they haven’t even verified the existence of a police report?

Buddy of mine got in a bad wreck this week that totaled his truck, enclosed work trailer and 12k worth of construction tools. Other driver was uninsured and the cops just let him go without any punishment and completely botched the report. He is having to sue to the police dept now

Depends where he lives. There is a particular demographic where I live that targets people so they can get bogus injury claims. They love to target company vehicles, it’s why we removed our company logo off our trucks
