quote:

The Cava (NYSE: $CAVA) on Wall Street, located minutes from the Charging Bull, received a “C” grade from the New York City Department of Health.

The range of potential pests that inspectors identified on the premises reads like something out of the Old Testament — filth flies, blow flies, flesh flies.

The health inspection report also identified improper food storage and protection protocols, inadequate temperature control for hot foods, unsanitary food contact surfaces, and issues with drainage and waste disposal.

The Wall Street location of the rapidly expanding Mediterranean fast-casual chain, whose menu emphasizes fresh, healthy ingredients, was also briefly shut down after failing to properly display its grade to the public — relatable content for any kid who has hidden a report card from their parents.

Their valuation was pretty high, and esteemed poster and investor TulaneLSU recently advised not to open or add to a long position.

But what do we think of this report? Seeds oils and poor sanitation grades arent neccesarily a reason to speculate that a stock price is going to decline

CAVA is trading for $123.97 at the time of this post.

What do you all think, is it time to take profit on CAVA ?

Here are some competitors in fast casual food, and their current and forward P/Es

It’s wildly overvalued but also very popular. So, we’ll see how this works. I would not be short, but also wouldn’t buy here.

Unfortunately missed this in the $40s after the IPO.

CAVA is my go to if I've had too much Chipotle. Also tried SweetGreens for the first time last week in Boulder. That place is awesome.

I went there last night and looked up the stock price and said yeah this is due for a collapse. Service was terrible, they're going to have to come down to earth soon.

I don't think their product is that great but the one I went to a few months ago was packed with college age kids and office workers who looked like they were in their mid to late 20s.

Which is crazy because you can't leave that place for less than $15. I could barely afford a $5 meal in undergrad.

Cava holding strong at $123.27 even after today's volatility in the market.

Doesn't appear this short report had much effect on price action today.

It’s a trendy restaurant chain, and the short position is mostly based off the idea that enough negative news will buck the trend

I’ve been a big proponent of cava for over a year on this board but sold all of my shares a month ago at 114.

Happy with the 200% gain but it got way overvalued

$15 is the new(ish) $5. Cane’s is just as popular and just as expensive. Young people are happy to spend a lot on fast food. Generally speaking, it’s the 40+ crowd that thinks it is insanity.
