It’s all about the sign up bonuses. I don’t give much thought into their category spend unless I can scale it.

Amex has tons of transfer partners for their points. Hotel chains, airlines, etc. If you play your cards right and choose the right airline with off-peak miles you can get business class flights to Europe for 30k Amex points or less. Some even get a bonus at times. For instance.
Amex to Avios 1 to 1:4, 30000 Amex points transfers to 42000 Avios. Iberia business class off-peak from IAD to Madrid for 42500 Avios in business class. That's a redemption that is very tough to beat.

I don't know if I fly often enough anymore for it to be worth it for me. I haven't been on a plane in 10-12 years I believe. It's too expensive to fly a family around and I don't travel for work anymore.
Maybe we'll travel more when the kids are out of the house.

This article is complete bullshite... but what was the Vanilla card scheme that was on this board about 5yrs back?
Vanilla Reloads. You bought them at CVS. That was an easy one.
The money order thing has been around for years now. It's probably the only widely public MS option still going.
So many avenues got shut down people don't share how they do it anymore. Though, when those get shut down, they'll disclose it and I become aware that I'm just not using my brain enough to figure out new ways.

If yopu have an avenue to get points without spending your own money (i.e. business expenses) it's a fantastic way to give yourself a travel benefit. If you don't, I don't recommend it to people because it tends to build debt.

Yeah we have the Fidelity credit card which isn't advertised much, but it's 2% cash back on all purchases, no limit, and no annual fee. Just put everything on there except when there's an extra cc fee and then I pay cash.

This. Got several credit cards last year with 90-100,000 point bonuses with $3000 spend. I easily do that every month. Me and the wife are flying to Crete and Portugal business class free this summer.
I like Amex (have Platinum) but Chase Sapphire is the tits. More airlines you can transfer points to and you can transfer Chase Ink to Sapphire to pool points.

You can usually get rooms for like 10k a night when somewhere like Marriot is going to be close to 50k a night for the same kind of hotel

Can you explain this a little bit?
We run $350-400k/yr through a Chase Ink Business Premier, and I just cash them out periodically.
Also have a AMEX Blue Business, but probably don’t do $50k through it. They’re the same rewards (2% cash back I think). The Chase is def unlimited 2%, and AMEX is 2%, but maybe with a cap?
As far as personal CC’s we don’t really have much that is rewarding at all, (low end AMEX and Citi) so we really don’t use them.
Do I need to get a personal Chase Sapphire and just start running some personal expenses through it (groceries, gas, etc.)? Then just stick to Chase only? Hotels and Airlines will be main uses for points.
But I think AMEX to Hilton transfer is good too? I don’t know. I don’t keep up with where and how to redeem as well as I should because I’m usually just cashing out.

Key Takeaways: People make money by selling their authorized user tradelines. While you may not reach earning $1,000 per hour, you may earn a side income. There are some risks that come with selling tradelines, such as potentially getting your account shut down if you add to many authorized users.
Na, sounds like I know exactly how it works.

#1 – Selling Your Tradelines May Be Violating The Terms of Service of Your Credit Card Account
According to CreditCard.com, selling your tradelines to a stranger is probably against the terms of service that you signed up for with your credit card company.
With the exception of your spouse, domestic partner, or kids, you cannot assign your rights for payment to someone else to use your card. For example, Discover’s cardholder agreement states, “You may not sell, assign or transfer your Account without first obtaining our prior written consent.”
If you are caught violating your card terms, your account could be closed. According to Barry Paperno, a credit score expert and former columnist for CreditCards.com.

#2 Selling Your Tradelines Can Get Your Card Accounts Closed
Today, most banks monitor for authorized tradeline abuse. Their risk departments will flag any account where more than 4 -6 authorized users have been added.

I don't like believe this because the post like keeps going on and on with like no cohesion. Like there are so many things wrong with this like I don't believe it.

This scheme worked 15 years ago, but would be almost impossible to pull off in 2024. Few polaces will allow you to buy a money order with a gift card. Virtually nowhere. This will also violate most credit card agreements. You will wind up with your cashback voided and your card cancelled.

Some I keep if I like the perks like Amex Platinum. The Centurion Club access is great if you fly often, great travel insurance, and you get $400 a year credit for Dell plus other credits. Others I have canceled (Air Canada and Alaska Air) after I got the points. You never want to just cancel since you lose the credit. Call in and ask Chase or BOA to transfer your credit line to another one of their cards you are keeping then close the card. This lets you move credit to other cards you want to open in the future.

I have a personal Chase Sapphire Preferred and was able to transfer my business Ink points to that account. To transfer points you need a Sapphire Preferred or Ink Preferred card. I like Chase points because they have more airlines I like. Amex points are good but they have fewer airlines, mainly Delta domestic. Amex points can be used for KLM/Air France but these are rarely good deals.
I would not transfers Amex points to Hilton as the value is less than if you use for airfare. I have an Amex Hilton and that is a better way to build Hilton points (you get complimentary Diamond status which is nice as well).
