Joint incomes to consider a 450,000 house in or near Round Rock Texas

I know what the mortgage calcs say. Just want real person opinions.

Any kids or plans for kids? Can you give us a rough estimate on property taxes (I know they're high in Tx)? Money saved for 20% downpayment, furniture, emergency fund?

Without knowing anything further, with a 20% downpayment, I'd say a minumum of 160K/year. I'd feel more comfortable at 180K/year.

If you have 20% for down payment, make 100k+, and excellent credit you should be fine. Principal and interest at 3.625 0/0 on 30 year is 1,642 a month.

Never been a better time to buy.

Not that it matters much, but we're getting 3.375 30yr with no points. I know someone else said they got a similar rate as well.

I can't ever imagine spending that much on a house. I am a simple guy. I would have to make that per year before spent that much.

This sounds about right to me for a ball park figure.

Meh, the dollar doesn't stretch as far as it used to. I am curious how big the house is.

Well sure, in the BR area, that is one hell of a house.

That's a up to date 3/2 or a 4/3 that needs a little bit of work in Hundred Oaks.

We can find many examples all over the city, but there are tons of nice houses under 300K that a family of four could be comfortable in.

BR is also overpriced in my opinion. 450K just down the road in the Central area would get you more house than you know what to do with. In LP, you could easily get acres and a large house.

You can't say a house in BR is overpriced because a similar house is cheaper in LP, or Central, only 3 things matter in in real estate, "location, location, location".
