This is akin to a nation dispersing 200 million ballots for an election, to a nation with only 100 million eligible voters.
, I know the how, I just don’t know why some would disagree with AMC on their reported numbers. If individuals own 80%, then they own 400 million shares. They don’t own 80% of this alleged 2 billion share company, they own 80% of the 500 million one.

Fintel is a relatively shitty resource given the limitations of their reporting sources. I’d imagine AMC announces after the bell, but I tend to think WSB types won’t care what he says. He told them individuals owned 80% in March and they didn’t believe him, so I don’t see why they would now.

I’ve said it before in this thread, but I don’t think it’s a bad idea to hold at least some original shares just in case these crazy theories are right.

They’re saying that the Ortex estimated short shares were under by about 18% as of 5/28. Ortex comes up with their number by updating exchange reported data every two weeks plus daily on loan numbers. Ortex thought fewer shares were short because a lot of shares were returned from the 5/14 number, but apparently that wasn’t the case.
That being said, there are only 87 million shares currently on loan, so current legal shorts can’t be higher than that.
