I didn’t think this was still needed but apparently people on here are getting burned by Voyager after we’ve have a number of threads and posts in crypto threads talking about how this contagion isn’t over and every one of these companies are at risk. How people still had their shite on Voyager after the news about their exposure to 3AC came out weeks ago is mind boggling.

Get all your shite off of exchanges and yield sites immediately. Yes that means Coinbase as well. There is no reason to risk it at this point. There’s really no excuse if another one goes under soon and you lose funds.

Hulk can chime in on some decentralized wallets if you don’t want a physical wallet (I’m not familiar with that space). For cold storage wallets, Ledger Nano, Trezor, or Coldcard(bitcoin).

I can't even begin to understand the thought process of people doing this.

UX = User eXperience.

Best UX right now is Loopring. You can simply send funds from an exchange to your Loopring wallet Ethereum address and begin exchanging with cheap fees. Loopring is a centralized zkRollup, but you own your keys and crypto. Most people will be best off with this because it's easiest to get your money back to an offramp exchange if you need it.

Argent is a great wallet with a good UX, including guardianship protection for your wallet (must confirm making a transaction from multiple places) and enhanced recovery features.. Most wallets will be more like Argent in the future. However, to get cheap txs on Argent you have to bridge your money to zkSync, which can be done in the app. The down sides are: bridging is kinda expensive (~$20-30 rn I think) and the selection of coins on zkSync is very limited right now. This is what I primarily use.

Metamask is the most ubiquitous and widely supported, but its interface is pretty bad. It's the classic hot wallet most people know of, and you still have the bad crypto UX of having to bridge money to other chains to get cheap transactions. I use metamask for development, when deploying contracts and such.

The next gen metamask-esque wallets are Rainbow and Status. They are much prettier and have a better UI than Metamask, but you still have to bridge funds to a cheaper chain to get cheap transactions.

Oh and there's an open source desktop app called Rotki that is great, but still only works on Ethereum main net, I believe.

NEVER, EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES give your seed phrase or private key out to anyone at all.

If people need a recommendation, I am more than satisfied with my Ledger X. Only buy hardware wallets directly from the manufacturers.

Same. Love my ledger.

I would suggest to people keeping your seed phrase in a different location than your actual ledger.

I keep my ledger in a personal safe and keep my seed phrase in a bank vault written in such a way that if someone were to ever look at it they would think it is just a hand written note.

I got the Arculus cold wallet (it’s a metal credit card) and works via Bluetooth. I’ve been super pleased with it.

My gripe with Ledger was having to have a desktop to make the transfer. I only use an iPhone or iPad nowadays.

none of them are good. Don't ever trust a centralized exchange. Use them for fiat on and off.

What happens to the coins when one of these platform fails. Do they just disappear?

They get liquidated. Massive sell-off and the whole market feels it.

People laugh, but they are a whole hell of a lot more stable than half these other exchanges that damned near feel like you are going to the deep web when on them. They took their beating in the public arena the other year and learned from it, and are more fiscally sound than these exchanges that are going under.

They do offer actual wallet now, not just a trade platform.

I still have everything in Coinbase, but was planning to move everything to LoopRing after reading this earlier today. I have about 2/3rd of my money run with bots via 3commas off a CB account and then I have a Hodl account...

However, I did just see that you can run the bots with Loopring. Gonna have to transfer and use that I guess. Hopefully we can get that bull run going in the next year so I can get the bots working again.

Pulled my money from Voyager on 6/29/2022. Got a confirmation number, but funds still haven’t hit my checking account. We’ll see…

If/when all the exchanges go under will it really matter?
