Well not shocking I guess. What a train wreck that company has been. What should you do with the stock? It’s already cheap.

Pretty demoralizing if you've owned this stock for 20 years.
1) you've got a 35% loss ytd
2) a dividend cut from a company that you bought for their dividend.

I'd imagine a 20 year holder is still wayyy up on this stock? I honestly don't know what I'd do.
Anyone?

I wonder what normally happens in these cases. Never really followed it. Stock price could improve because company keeping more of its money to invest in itself. Most people own it for the dividend though.

Jeff immelt ran the company in the ground. I still don’t understand why he wasn’t fired years ago

Cutting the dividend is smart at this point. Once things turn around, it will increase.

In one sentence, I can not tell you what GE does to make money.

I know they bring good things to life - but that is about it.

I know a lot of their business is in the aviation world. For example all the AH-64s and UH-60s atleast in the Army sport a version of a GE T701C/D engine.

They sold their finance and O&G business at the bottom, not a healthy start.

Also for Bell AH-1W/AH1Z and UH-1Y use the T700 platform now T700-401C for the Y&Z iirc.

This dividend cut was expected. I'm expecting a two day sell off. I think it will find support at the end of tomorrow. I'm looking for it to be around $30 by the end of next year. It needs at least 2 more quarters to turn it around.

I would wait a lot longer to buy. My thoughts would be around 1Q 2018.

At least. Still need a credible plan that includes a clear vision for future growth.

GE Healthcare has about 25-30% of the global medical imaging market, they dominate the market in ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and portable Xray.

So, in a way, GE can be considered a mini mutual fund? Albeit poorly diversified at the moment...

Cutting a dividend isn’t necessarily bad if it allows for capital investment in NPV a positive investments.

But, the market is generally skeptical any time a dividend is cut on a mature company.
