That does suck.

Really, it does.

Send them to public! HA! Get your money's worth. That will show them!

So do mine, but I learned a long time ago that my property value is directly proportional to the availability of quality public education.

That is high for Louisiana, (your house must be pretty valuable) but not high on a national level. In Texas, you'd pay a lot more (that is how they get away with no income tax, they just defer it to their citizens who live there)

My kids are all out of school now, so should I get my money back? Also, I never go to the state parks so maybe I should get a refund on that, too?

I've never had had to call on the police or fire department, yet here I am, paying for them through my taxes.

they are still light years behind the Texas system. They are also a distant second to private schools in La.

I love how people try to make Zachary sound like a good system........it's still garbage.

Just move to Texas like me.

The trade off of not having to pay 6.25% state Income tax!

Our property taxes are reasonable like 1500 a year, but we pay thousands in state tax

I recently filed for my homestead tax exemption and it save me close to $1400 in taxes for next year. Not sure if there is such an exemption in BR. Not sure of the tax laws there.
