The oil price is dropping and all the oil stocks are hurting. Makes me hesitant to buy.

For the O&G people, any thoughts on if there is potential if they get things turned around?
I mean, will this company ever have an upside? I keep hearing they are a little obsolete and involved with things that people are leaving

I'm reading their website now. They are a shelf company and it seems the majority of their fields are mature. I don't know the kind of Rates of return they get from their investments there. Some companies are moving from the shelf and on to unconventional and/or deepwater, but that doesn't mean you can't make money on the shelf. It is just safer money with less return. However, they are also involved in a very high cost, risky play on the shelf.....
It's possible that this has to do with the ultra-deep shelf gas Davy Jones well. There hasn't been much said at all about the well test done. The well was very problematic to drill and cost $1 billion. Energy XXI holds a 15.8% interest in the well.

Well, looks like my limit order triggered at $8/share, so now I'm along for the ride. Hopefully it's a ride up!

Margin requirements must have changed. I haven't received notice yet, but I have sold calls on this and also own shares, so I can see 25% and $5 per share required currently. It was 50% before and no per share.

Down almost 8% this morning.

Can't imagine there is that much blood left to bleed with EXXI.
Book value alone is something like 18-20$ isn't it?

Down in the 7.50 range. Ouch. Its either time to load up or get the eff off the sinking ship. I'm puzzled as to which one it is though.

I'm cautious that they're holding onto some bad news about Davy Jones

Insiders at Energy XXI bought just over 130,000 shares over the past three months. That well outpaced insider selling, which was less than 30,000 shares. A bulk of the insider buying was done in August when the company's stock was trading for $15-$16 per share. Unfortunately for those insiders the stock is down more than 50% since that time.

Didn't Russian post something earlier in this thread about insiders dumping? Or was that SDRL?

I bought at $21 a share...down 64% currently. We will see how this ends up. Seems like too big of a company to just go away...

down almost 40% on my end
eta: between this and Franks I'm not having a very good year on individual stocks

Fieldwood needs some more PE money to go out and take down EXXI and do a reverse merger to take their company public.

Thought getting it at $25 was a steal. Now it's getting ugly
