I gave 10% post tax before i was married and my wife did pre tax 10% before we got married
now we do 10% pre tax, plus extra gifts at the end of the year above and beyond

Doing the math I give around 2.5 - 3% in cash to my church each year. Total monetary donations to various causes for those truly in need is around 10 - 12% each year. Post-tax fwiw.

Try to find a "tithe" in the New Testament. You won't.
The obligation of giving is part of Old Testament (mosaic) law, and is not a tenet of the Christian church.
Give whatever you wish, and do it cheerfully...whether money, time, a service, or giving to someone in need.
Pastors use this 10% thing incorrectly, but it sticks.
If the church ACTUALLY tithed acc. to the Old Testament definition of a tithe, then they'd be giving roughly 50% of all their income to the church, and I believe 100% every seventh year.
The obligation of giving is part of Old Testament (mosaic) law, and is not a tenet of the Christian church.

My wife and I give monthly as well. In fact we give to two different churches as we are transitioning from our current church to a new church plant - still give the same amount just split it between two churches.
I believe we give just above 10% of our gross income. With that said - we don’t believe the church teaches that we must give 10% but we use that as a basis anyways.

There is actually a passage where Jesus say you should tithe, kind of in passing. However I agree that whatever you give, give cheerfully and not under compulsion. It's better to not tithe than to begrudgingly tithe.

Always hated when the end of the service , the preacher would try to guilt you into giving .. one reason I'm not involved with any of that anymore .

A set amount for a tithe % is stupid. Depends on your situation.
We give the church enough to make sure we get the discount for our kids tuition at school. I think it's around $600 a year.
We give/spend a bunch of more money throughout the year for school and other charity fundraisers and that's good enough for me.

We do give a tithe of post tax earnings. I truly believe that the tithe is no longer a binding law, but I do feel that some type of giving assists in spreading the word.

We do, I try to give till it hurts a little, it's very hard for me to not elevate my money to the level of a false god in my life. I struggle with it, I'll admit it, but God keeps blessing me more and more, He is good and it all belongs to him anyways. I should still give more

But Jesus made it clear that his teachings did not change or nullify the law of the Old Testament, And when asked about giving he said specifically to give unto Caesar what is Caesar's and to give unto to God what is God's
Tithe does mean 1/10 but in the Old Testament the tithe was to support the Hebrew government which was also the church. Now the government is funded through your taxes , here's where a lot of people get hung up on whether or not a 10th is still applicable.
There's so many discussions and conversations to have on the topic, but as another poster said, it's about what's in your heart, give freely and with Joy, pray about it and do what the Holy Spirit leads you to.

Like I said in my other post. The tithing part isn't the main point Jesus was trying to make, but he also said it was something that should be done. He just elevated loving people above it.

Yes I tithe. Tithing is more about obedience and your heart. God doesn’t need our $ but your local church does to support their ministries and day to day operations. God has always blessed me and my family with the 90%. If you don’t want to tithe, then don’t do it. If you feel guilty when the pastor brings it up, don’t get mad at him. That’s conviction setting in.
