I'm not talking about your basic payroll, AP or AR staff. It seems like every accountant I know clocks in 60+ on a semi regular basis.. quarter close, taxes, etc.

Is there such a thing as a 6 figure accounting gig with a normal work life balance?

Yes but you generally have to have a job along the way where you put in those hours.

Right here baw.

Only time my hours get kinda long (45/week) is during our annual audit. Typically I put in less than 40.

Not true. Got hired into my position after having no industry-specific experience.

One girl that I knew just quit a big 4 job .. she complained about this shite all the time yet she'd stroll into work 30+ minutes late and take long lunches and wonder why she was always at work...

I'm in that position now, but definitely cut my teeth in public accounting and lower level positions to get here. Just like anything else.

3 people left my firm when Toyota opened in DFW for management positions there. They had like 5 years experience and all left for 100k plus jobs. All around 30.

Sure, but usually their corporate policies whether written or not are generally in line with the home company.

The culture isn't the same as Japan, it's pretty much as simple as that. It's just like any other industry job, don't do shite until month, quarter, or year end, work for a week, and mess around until that week comes back up again.

I'm a finance manager for a Fortune 150 company. Haven't put in over 40-45 hours per week in a few years.

It's my experience that the majority of those people that work 60-70 hours per week on a regular basis in finance, or most other career fields, are either by choice or by being very inefficient.
