Your mention of a possible mid-October deadline for Lanxess to decide on financing reminded me of this quote regarding October.

From Wednesday, this could be about any of the Arkansas players but found this quote interesting: "And we’ve not heard the last about lithium. We’ve been told to expect more big lithium news in late October."

Lanxess's stock is way down and has been mostly falling since 2021. That could put a bump in SLI's path.

Im not optimistic that we will get favorable news from Lanxess. But that may be a blessing in disguise. I get the feeling that we want that decision to get made so they can move out of the way for us for someone else.

I seriously doubt there would be good news coming out of Lanxess. Unless Koch is buying them out on the cheap.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict Lanxess will step aside allowing SLI to proceed without them. If I were SLI I'd slow play good news until Lanxess is out. They have devolved into a clusterfrick of an operation.

Important to note, that's the PFS for the SW Ark project and not the DFS for the Lanxess project.
Expect the DFS to be filed week of Oct 16. That's when the 90 day FID clock will start, I think (still waiting on/hoping SLI will verify this for me).

Finally received a reply from SLI, here are the points of interest:
1) Will file official DFS report by October 20th
2) After officially filing the DFS it forces Lanxess to make a decision on partnering and contributing financially (up to 49% of cost)
3) Lanxess decision is expected before end of CY2023
4) Lanxess decision influences the direction on financing
5) Did not rule out another player taking the place of Lanxess as pro-rata partner.
6) Need to secure financing BEFORE announcing the FID
7) Confirmed 1st half of 2024 for FID, but "likely early first half"

My gut feeling is that Lanxess isn't going to have the cash flow to invest and there is another player in the on deck circle waiting.

I just wish they would finish out any royalty agreements needed and put the demo plant into production for what it's worth. That would dispel the "science project" atmosphere coming out of their weak PR and show a little revenue.
