Based on your post here recently, I’m guessing that your email was so pointed and perhaps comparing it to another more complex project, that they weren’t able (for whatever reason), to respond.

I received a vague, smiley face, very “positive” response. I’ll post it when I get back to my laptop.

Eta: Their response:

It’s great to meet you! I'd like to introduce myself - I'm Allysa Howell and I recently joined as the head of communications and investor relations. You can find my direct contact information below. I hear your and other investors concerns regarding the delays. It feels slow….it can feel like molasses as you’ve alluded to. I’m with you! Building projects takes time, and what I can assure you is our management team is building responsibly – with world class partners like Koch - and de-risking the projects where they can. So when the day comes for first commercial production, we hit production with no hiccups. Thank you for sharing your concerns with me, and please know these are voiced to management. We can talk more….let me know. I’m here to answer any questions you have, so don’t hesitate to reach out. Allysa Howell VP Corporate Communications

I'll be chatting with them soon. Either this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

Side note, I was combing through the PR again to make sure I had all my talking points and found this nugget hidden in the garbage at the bottom that I usually skim over.
quote:

A National Instrument 43-101 report is required to be filed, in conjunction with the disclosure of the Study in this news release, within 45 days.

So the NI 43-101 has to be filed in 45 days. So assuming that is calendar days, that is week of Oct 16 for filing. They have 90 days from filing of that report to make FID. So again, assuming calendar days, that's week of January 15 (2024) absolute drop dead FID. I'll clarify whether this is a sound conclusion when I talk to them.

If it happens to be business days, that is still week of March 13 (2024) absolute drop dead date. Even if that's the case, still have no idea why they said 1H 2024 instead of Q1.

Wow, this is super helpful. Hoping its calendar days.

The DFS release shows that they expect commercial operation to begin 28 months after FID..

Thanks for sharing that.

I actually sent a very short email with little to no negative tone and did not mention my experience in "mega" projects.

I simply asked for sound explanation for the unusually large gap between DFS and FID especially when the DFS was so positive.

I've also sent an email to IR asking for a short web conference call that could be opened to multiple folks to join and discuss.

Will keep everyone posted if I hear back.

I'm not crazy about the concept of EV's myself, except for my selfish desire to see this stock soar. I, too, have been concerned about the overall market's desire for this EV industry.

Then again, I have to wonder if Ford would be cancelling gasoline powered lines (and shutting down plants) to transfer them to EV assembly lines if they didn't think this was real? Surely they have more to lose by retooling entire plants. (I hope!!!). Or are they just getting big Fed dollars to do this?

honestly I don’t think consumers have much choice in the matter. Another few decades and our governing overlords are going to have everyone in an EV IMO. It’ll be that or you’ll be driving a 20 year old ICE vehicle.

I’ve only developed that sentiment recently as every car commercial I see now is for EVs from one of the big boys automakers.

We bought some land

118 acres for the SWA project.

Eta On the Lanxess front, I regret to report that this PR reiterates "Final Investment Decision in the first half of 2024."

Maybe they can build some apartment complexes and actually make some money.

I want to see a warehouse bursting at the seams with supersacks full of lithium hydroxide. How about a picture with a FOR SALE sign. That would be a solid PR. They can blend it with brine and pump it back into the aquifer after they post the pic on Facebook

Very much a fluff piece. That's just "damn the stock price is dropping hard, we gotta try to throw something out there to stop the fall".

Probably won't work; that being said, at least they're trying.

It will be seen for what it is, price won't move significantly.

I wonder when they purchased this property, awhile back?
The PR only states today announced the acquisition of 118 acres of land

So they announced it, but gave no dates of purchase.

Maybe they're getting the message? Maybe they're tired of seeing their own portfolios suck?

They probably had themselves convinced that the DFS would give the price a bump, not a $1.25 drop.

I'll only speak for myself, but I'm more cautious right now than I ever thought I would be.

2 years ago I felt the facility would be in construction phase by fall 2023, but here we are still slow footing around with FID's and rookie PR moves.

I have very very little concern long term.

My worry is short term and dilution. If this thing actually goes 6 months without a material update, they're gonna be in $1 territory.

Long term fundamentals look fantastic. Short term, the question is where can I get the best price point. I think it'll just be averaging down for me (not selling and trying to buy back in lower). But I think the latter play is probably the right one.

Same here. Im thinking about parking my money elsewhere for a while. I dont see this thing moving upward for a long time.

I do hope that theyre getting the message. I would not relent on that message. It seems they need to be bullied into showing any meaningful progress.

It's pretty much their announced timeline. It's so drawn out as to make an auto manufacturer/battery producer get tired of waiting and to buy them out and build it themselves. Management here must really miss the good old days of being able to blame everything on covid and the canada border shutdowns. There's going to be a pop, but management sure doesn't give a flip about the investors that have joined the venture in the mean time, and like the above post said, it will drop more and the opportunity for latecomers to pick up cheap shares right before liftoff will allow them to outperform us longs. It's so low right now I have no shares lent so the shorts aren't even having to work on SLI. And the photo opp with Governor sanders and the Trevor Milton look alike doesn't sit well. Apologies for the last one.

I’m hoping they’ve finally learned to underpromise and overdeliver on their timelines announced in their press releases. I betting that’s the case given the timeline for the FID discussed above.
