re: Diving deeper on Standard Lithium?

My understanding is that easing of travel restrictions is not needed for JV to be signed which should be soon. But easing of travel restrictions may be necessary to reach final investment decision (FID) on starting the commercial plants.

This is what caught my eye, "Albemarle is working with the US Department of Energy and scientists at Argonne National Laboratory to devise methods for getting high-purity lithium hydroxide directly from lithium-containing brine. The current multistep process requires the production of lithium carbonate as an intermediate."
I wonder how close they are to perfecting these methods and how close these methods are to what STLHF has developed. I don't know that any of that would matter in regards to STLHF's relationship with Lanxess and I'll continue buying STLHF...just curious.

Standard Lithium's cost of production will be a lot lower, faster and cleaner than that of conventional lithium mining and extraction. This means that they will be able to take the cream of the market.
My HSTLF Friend, take off the rose colored glasses for a second, and look at Albemarle. They've been in Li business for quite a while. They have Li operations in Nevada, Chili, Australia. They have at least one brine plant in Arkansas. They have another plant near their HQ in North Carolina. They have idled their Li operations in Australia due to lack of demand. You can't just look at what has traditionally been done and rule them out.
I don't mean to be a downer at all, as I'm in really heavy myself. But to dismiss ALB as an old mining company wouldn't be smart.
As mentioned above, perhaps ALB would be prospective buyer of STLHF.
IMHO, they are the competition.

Looks like Friday is going to hold strong, maybe no end of the week sell off.
Maybe the new home with no news will be 2.85-3.25 for a while?

I hear ya. STLHF is like a penny stock by comparison which means I can grab more. ALB is a bit like Standard Lithium and Lanxess combined into one big company (hope that doesn't happen any time soon).
The ALB Australian mines are hard rock sourced lithium which makes me wonder if the shutdown there is due to production costs relative to the market price and demand. However, they too have been in the bromide extraction business for a long time and can do direct lithium extraction too. Both ALB and STLHF have great potential to undercut the market due to direct tail brine extraction. I think it will be the old hard rock and evaporation ponds that will feel the loss.
ALB is a big company so any stock effects for their tail brine recovery of lithium would likely have a relatively limited effect on their stock price.

I've addressed the Albermarle situation before. Their brine leases are not as extensive or as rich as what Lanxess has and STLHF now has rights to the Tetra lease. Albermarle's lithium concentrations not quite as high as Lanxess's nor do they have the brine production or infrastructure Lanxess does. They tried a different group for the direct extraction in 2017 and it didn't make it past experimental phase. STLHF handpicked the Lanxess site because of a multitude of advantages they had over Albermarle or anywhere else currently in existence. Albermarle shite the bed on this one. Doesn't mean they can't develop the tech and produce lithium from their brine, but no way possible can they do it as cheap and efficiently as Lanxess and STLHF or as much without major and very costly expansion. Even if they do, they will be far behind the curve and with projected demands they will be plenty of seats at the table. Most likely, they will be smart and work out a deal and pipeline their tailbrine to the Tetra site for STLHF to extract. Simplest, most cost effective way to do it for them. STLHF is ready to go. No one else is. Albermarle got cocky and got their arse handed to them. Not saying they won't be a player, but they should've sucked it up and conceded to Lanxess' and STLHF's demands if they weren't excessive and they may have even been retracted by Lanxess since Albermarle sat with their thumb up their arse while STLHF has not just met, but exceeded all initial projections. Albermarle will not be buying STLHF unless they buy Lanxess AG as well.

I regret that I have only one upvote to give.

New battery tech could derail us. At least new tech should be far enough away for us to make money off STLHF first.
The Battery That Will Finally Unlock Massless Energy Storage
quote:
To make the new structural battery, the scientists layered a buffer glass “fabric” between a positive and negative electrode, then packed it with a space-age polymer electrolyte and cured it in the oven. What results is a tough, flat battery cell that conducts well and holds up to tensile tests in all directions.
quote:
“The battery has an energy density of 24 Wh/kg, meaning approximately 20 percent capacity compared to comparable lithium-ion batteries currently available. But since the weight of the vehicles can be greatly reduced, less energy will be required to drive an electric car"
quote:
The scientists say the next step is to improve the performance even more, replacing aluminum foil in the electrode with carbon fiber material and thinning out the separator. This could result in a battery that produces 75 Wh/kg of energy and 75 GPa of stiffness, setting more records for massless batteries and also greatly reducing their weight.

Structural batteries are still confined to labs and research papers. They will absolutely be revolutionary, but lithium is the right immediate play. I can’t see structural or massless batteries being something actually in use within the next twenty years, at least.

It's often a very long road from the lab to the market place. The current generation of lithium ion batteries have been making their way from the lab to the market for over 30 years. Early lab results using nanotech processes showed great potential over 30 years ago. Scaling it up to a practical manufacturing process was a difficult road and is still being developed.

Thank goodness for Standard Lithium. It's the only thing keeping me afloat today!

This should bode well for Standard Lithium.

Electric vehicle stocks rally after Biden proposes massive investment in EV market
quote:
White House Fact Sheet on Biden-EVs: "U.S. market share of plug-in electric vehicle sales is only one-third the size of the Chinese EV market. The President believes that must change. He is proposing a $174 billion investment to win the EV market. His plan will enable automakers to spur domestic supply chains from raw materials to parts, retool factories to compete globally, and support American workers to make batteries and EVs. It will give consumers point of sale rebates and tax incentives to buy American-made EVs, while ensuring that these vehicles are affordable for all families and manufactured by workers with good jobs. It will establish grant and incentive programs for state and local governments and the private sector to build a national network of 500,000 EV chargers by 2030, while promoting strong labor, training, and installation standards."

I can't stand Democrats, but you can count on them to close ranks and fall in line when the time comes. I think Biden's infrastructure passage will be passed by reconciliation. Should provide massive tailwinds for STLHF. If you can't beat them, at least make money off of them!

I certainly don't want to be pissing into the wind on stocks. A lot of stocks are going to be hurt with the changes in investment climate, taxes, regulation and overall direction in the ship of state, but STLHF should be right in the wheel house.

Former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Frank Fannon Joins Standard Lithium Advisory Board
I find it interesting that it names the location as Arkansas, not Vancouver. Baby steps.

Yeah at some point if the travel restrictions from Canada don't get lifted, those baws in Vancouver might need to move down to Arkansas!

Just saw a commercial for Standard Lithium on CNBC business news. First time I've seen it mentioned anywhere outside of here.

Anyone got a link to the Standard Lithium swag store?
I want to get a "I take my lithium like I take my gas. Standard" shirt.
