I got declined for the United 50k offer a couple weeks ago and was pissed. I called and I guess they mixed me up with someone else, but got the offer and a lot of apologies. I think I would keep this card over my AA MC if I didn't fly AA more often to NOLA. The free bag and priority boarding are nice, but I feel like I'm paying $95 a year for it. United Visa is the same fee though. I do like the no foreign transaction fees with United, the AA card has fees. And overall, I fricking hate UA

I didn't get instant approval on the US Airways but called today and it was pleasant and somewhat humorous exchange.

Lady is "Let's see here, you use your Arrival card frequently, good, all your lines are paid off monthly, every thing is pretty low, well....I have nothing, no questions for you. You've done a really great job, you're approved."

ME: "Thanks, you made me feel better about myself today"

I actually had a similar conversation with Barclay's for the Arrival Plus. I was impressed with their approval process.

You using US Air for domestic travel?

Haven't decided. Got it because it's the largest offer and it's going away soon and I could group it with American card next year when I burn my Chase points on the honeymoon. I do have MSY to DC as a yearly occurence though. From what I've read the sweet spot is international though.

Thoughts?

United is a means to an end. Thankfully that's all it is

Skypesos are the Indian Rupee of the travel world. What does that equate to another airline?

In seriousness though, with all the devaluations if Delta stays put they may end up on par with everybody else soon enough.

I typically only use them to go to football games on last minute flights or fly my SO home

This thing slipped to pg 3. Slow times for all you CC junkies.

Just signed up for Serve today due to the soon to be defunct AP.

Loaded a $500 OV at CVS on my Old Amex Blue getting $25 cash back for spending $4.95. Brought it to Family Dollar, bought the $2.95 Serve temp card, loaded it at register using my OV card with no problems.

Registered online for the permanent card and saw that I can load up to $5k monthly on this through OVs at Family Dollar as well as load $1k/monthly online via any CC. Back in business.

I know Teddy told me all this but I didn't listen . Amazon Payments was too easy.

Nice to know there's still an out for meeting minimum spends if needed.

Did you check if you can use ISIS (Now Softcard) with your phone and carrier? That increases your monthly load limits.

Also, you probably know, You'll have to prove your identity with a picture of the credit card and your ID but once past that its easy street.

I need to start looking into this. I might be short this year for my 2nd threshold bonus and really want those MQM's

Problem is Amex seems to not award points with its branded cards(which makes sense). I recommend doing a search on your specific Amex card though, because I didn't search all of them for it working.

However, even though you may not get award points for the "spend," you may get credit for the spend itself. That may sound weird, but it can be useful for sign up bonuses and elite status yearly spend requirements.

Let me know what you find, last I checked Amex wasn't counting any Serve transactions towards annual spend but maybe I'm wrong with this thinking? I need to generate about $5k worth of spend to hit a bonus and am looking for ideas

What I read was the SPEND will count but the points that spend would have earned wouldn't.

Ex. I spend 3k on Barclay's card to earn 40,000 point bonus using serve. I'd get the 6,000 points (3,000x2) plus the 40k equals 46k.

If I spend 3k on Amex SPG to get 30,000 bonus I'll end up with 30,000 points, not 33,000.

So as you see, supposedly spend would count to trigger bonuses but won't earn. Not sure if still the case either way.

I think I'm going this route too, although I still have my Bluebird account that I haven't used since VRs went in the shitter.

You can only have one, either Bluebird or Serve, not both. Check out FT message boards on how to do the switch so you can minimize delays/learn process.

Looks like only on the Ink Plus, not Bold. Anyway, with Amazon Payments going the way of the dodo, I'm not sure if I can pull the trigger on a $5,000 spend right now considering I put all of my dining on my CSP. Plus, I've still got another 7 months on the no-fee period on my Bold. I'll catch the Ink Plus on the next 60/70k offer that comes around.

I'm actually going to get the bold next month since their discounting it in November.
Sign up for serve. It really is easy.
