OD/OM has Visa gift card deal $10 off $300 this week. The discount keeps going down. Will be topping off Ink 5x.

Are you MSing the GCs or spending them?

I really should at least buy them for use at retailers I'm never going to return goods to, like the grocery store.

Problem being there's not much run there with Freedom categories.

MSing. Turn them into MOs. I'll keep a couple for grocery stores and things like that since I don't have a card like Freedom with rotating categories. The 5x Ink with 250k max is hard to pass up when these deals come around.

So, a question I need to decide how to proceed on.

I have two CSR's (myself and wife) with over 300K points so far. With the travel credits, I don't really see the need to downgrade them, but am open to reasons why folks do it.

Anyway, I've had a Barclays card with 2% cash back that is up for renewal next month. I have enough travel credits to zero out my points on it, and was thinking I should move to the Chase Unlimited Freedom for non CSR purchases, and possibly add the CSP or maybe even the INK to bolster my points. Or should I cancel the CSR and downgrade to CSP?

Also, I haven't really googled, but wanted to ask about points redemption. My closest airport is LEX and it's mostly Delta with a couple of AA and United Flights, and Allegiant. I also have about 200K Hilton points, but wonder if I should use them and move to Marriott, as I think that is a Chase partner.

My goal was to bank points for future vacation use, but I really haven't studied enough as to airlines/hotels/etc that would get me the most bang for my buck with my UR points.

Advice? Drop the Barclays, pickup the CUF or CSP or something different? Not keep all my eggs in the Chase basket?

No reason to have both after year 1. Drop 1. If travels a lot by herself and needs lounge/rental car benefits, just add her as an AU on your account for $75. Make sure you transfer all the UR over from her account to yours before you cancel.

Yes. I think you should drop the 2% card and move to Freedom Unlimited. With the combo of of CFU and CSR, it will be very easy to beat the 2% card and the CFU has no AF. So win, win.

You can no longer have both the CSR and CSP at the same time. So when you cancel wife's CSR, get her a CSP for the bonus. Then cancel in year 2. No reason to have both CSR and CSP in the same household. Definitely add the Ink for 80K bonus points plus very good points earning.

It usually helps to branch out. But unless you were gonna go all out, I would advise you to keep building up UR as much as you can. UR gives you access to all 3 airline alliances and Hyatt. Maybe pick up hotel cards here and there to get the hotels free.

As far as redemption goes, *deleted* anytime and I can help you out with award searches and bookings.

Further, if you tell us what your goal is, people here can certainly give you advice as to what cards to get etc.

Thanks for the detailed response.

Neither of our CSR's are due for renewal till October I think, that is when we got them, should I get rid of one now, or just wait till the renewal period?

My overall goals is rewards travel. Flights, hotels, maybe cruises (my wife likes to cruise on Princess). And mostly US travel, maybe Hawaii. I would like to see some of Europe or Australia, but the wife isn't interested.

Again, you have to be a little more specific. "Flights and hotels" is tough to work with. Hawaii is easy. All you need is 50K UR for two people (on Delta flights through Korean) and 25K UR per night on Kauai (Grand Hyatt Kauai).

OK, sorry, I don't currently have specifics as in specific flights/airlines or hotels or locations, I'm just trying to bank points currently.

I'm hoping to retire in a couple of years, and just banking points till I have a need for them.

Yeah in that case, you are only limited to what you are comfortable with tbh. Its not hard to get a ton of points fast if thats what you want

wife drives 2,500 miles a month for work. Best to keep putting her gas on our cap 1 venture card or is there a gas card out there with killer rewards?

So the travel category for Ink Preferred is different than Sapphire's?

As far as I know Sapphire didn't count gas as Travel.

I know ink plus and bold were 2x gas

Just got the AMEX platinum 100k offer. Annual fee is 550. Is this worth it. We are teting to plan a Europe trip this summer, but not sure if it is worth the 550 fee. We already have tsa precheck but not global entry. Trip is for 4.

I've been getting that offer every few months for the last few years. One day I'll probably pull the trigger on it

Wondering the same thing, got a wedding/honeymoon coming up. Think I've been convinced with the 100K being worth so much itself, and the hotel upgrade benefits seem to be worth it once you add on the $200 each uber and airline credits. Might hold out until the last minute of the offer, though to double-dip on the airline credits since they reset every calendar year.

Do you travel with DL / home airport have a centurion lounge? How many times are you flying/staying in hotels a year.

You will definitely get $550 worth of value out of the card for a year with the 100k offer but still it is a high AF to throw down for people

Home airport is atl so delta is our primary. We stay in hotels about 20-25 days a year.
