Compare $450 to $0 since CSP comes with free first year. In the 2nd year you could downgrade both cards to a no AF card. The poster above mentions don't make it your first account so you can cancel it. Again, if you change it to a different product, it continues to be the same account as far as your credit is concerned.
If you spend at least $300 a year on travel (including Uber, AirBnB, tolls, cabs etc), and have $450 liquid, there are literally 0 reasons to not get this card. And I say this to people even when I can refer them to the CSP and earn 10K points myself.
Ofcourse, if travel credit and travel rewards have little to no value to you, you will be better off with something else later on. But year 1 - its all about the CSR.

Besides CSR and AMEX, I like my new Barclaycard for the 2% back on everything, the 50k bonus (spend 3k in 3 months), and the flexibility (covers lots of travel categories.
Obviously not in the same league as CSR, but for just an $89 fee on year two, it's not bad.

Are you saying you can downgrade to a no fee card from the CSR without "closing" a line of credit? Is this accurate?
So you can get the CSR, cash out after year 1 and downgrade to the freedom without any impact on your credit score?

If that's the case, then CSR is a no brainer
Assuming that's someone's strategy

To be fair, if you can't hit the $4k minimum spend, you should not sign up for the CSR.

Doesn't that go without saying? And not just limited to the CSR but any/all cards?

Well I officially applied for the CSR. How long can I expect to wait for approval?
Also I added my wife as a user for $75. Dumb move? She is not a big spender and terrified of the thought of a credit card.

Yeah. I wouldn't pay $75 for an AU.

Did you see the new Amazon cc? 5% back on all amazon.com purchases and $0 AF. That's pretty good.

I applied for the CSR just now. I was surprised Chase gave me a $27k limit. I got the Hyatt and IHG less than a year ago and they only gave me $6500

Wife was pre-approved for a CSR in branch today after being auto-declined online last week. She is WELL over 5/24. Made my day. I will be making my way into a branch soon. Added bonus is I can now downgrade her CSP to a Freedom unlimited.
Is there any reason to not downgrade her ink plus to a ink cash to save the fee? Right now she has ink plus, CSR, CSP and I have an ink cash and a freedom. As long as we have one CSR (or P) between us, we are good for transfers out to partners right?

I downgraded my CSP to just Sapphire once I got the CSR. Just needed a non fee UR card to keep points banked when I switch around signing bonuses with Chase.

You can still do that? Chase doesn't offer the Sapphire anymore

You can't apply for the Plain Old Sapphire, but it's one of CSP's downgrade options. Since I already had a Freedom and an FU, my downgrade option was limited to the Sapphire.

Awesome thanks. Is the Sapphire metal? My wife said she's gonna miss the metal card

How long can I expect to wait for an answer from Chase on the CSR application? I applied last night and they made an inquiry in to my credit this morning at 6AM.

Not sure, just downgraded a few days ago. I hope not. I don't really like metal cards. Can't put them in a shredder when you're done using them.
