Just looked through my welcome emails and that's my 24 month window. Looks like I'm shelved until May
Not necessarily. What are you trying to get? You're only 04/24. Your ink + doesn't count.
Also, Chase Hyatt and Chase IHG can still be had at or above 05/24.

OK, here is my plan.
After I reach my $4,000 minimum spend on my Chase Sapphire Reserve, I'm going to open up the Chase Sapphire Preferred probably sometime before christmas. I will probably reach my minimum spend on the CSP around January of 2017. That will put me at 5/24 till May of next year.
After that I'm going to open up the Chase IHG card. Then around October of 2017 I'm going to open up the two SW cards to go for the companion pass for 2018 and 2019.
Anything wrong with that plan?

Thanks to whoever downvoted but chose not to comment.
If you have a data point, let me know. I received ink +, ihg and hyatt all way over 5 in 24.

Credit score question:
Currently at a steady 775. Have 3 credit cards. Use them sparingly. No other loans. Will my score only start going up once i start borrowing for car/house/etc?

There was sent much room for it to go up. 775 is a fantastic score. I wouldn't sweat it.

SW cards are under 5/24, just keep that in mind. Hyatt and IHG aren't. As long as you are under that you are fine.
Also my suggestion would be to wait until October end or November and make sure you actually meet the minimum spend early in 2018. This will give you the companion pass for the rest of 2018 and all of 2019. So best to earn it as early in the year as possible.

Thanks, did not know that about SW falling under 5/24. Actually will be 4/24 once I sign up for CSP in December, but back to 3/24 in May. So will sign up for the two SW cards at end of 2017 to get companion pass for 2018/19. Then I can sign up for the IHG card.

Got an offer for an American Express Premiere Rwards Gold Card. I decided to apply because the rewards looked good. 50,000 points when you spend $2000 in the first two months (easy as hell) which are worth "up to" $500 in gift cards or something. 3x points on airfare, 2x on grocery and gas and restaurants, 1x on everything else. $100 a year on airline upcharges for checked bags and such.
The problem is I don't know the spending limit, it says you do not have a limit but that is changes depending on use of card. That is clearly bullshite, they have to have some kind of limit.
I may not end up using it. I applied mainly to see the spending limit. It also has a steep yearly fee over $100 but the first year is free.
Is it worth it or should you avoid CCs with yearly fees altogether?

Dear credit card gurus,
I'm a student trying to get my credit started. I applied for chase freedom however I'm not sure if I'll be accepted.
In the scenario that I'm declined, are there any credit cards I can get that offer some type of points/cash back with a unestablished credit history?

Be careful if you get accepted. Very easy for students to spiral down into credit card debt hell cause most figure they can easily pay it off once they graduate. Biggest rule of thumb if you get approved is never carry a balance.

Re:Amex limits.
They look at your spending patterns. Initially I put a lot of spend on my business card and had up to $30k a month on it. Then I got some other business cards and used it less. Recently I checked it for a purchase over $15k and they wouldn't allow it because of my current spending patterns.
It isn't bs but if you want to put a lot on the card you have to build up to it. My advice is to just use the button that lets you check if they'll authorize a purchase or not.

My first was Discover student card.

Discover it if you don't get freedom.

The Chase Freedom was my first credit card. After applying, I waited a couple of weeks then called the reconsideration line. They informed me that I had been declined (letter was already in the mail). After a ten minute conversation, I was approved for the card. The rest is history.
So, if you haven't already, call the reconsideration line, and good luck
ETA: The newish number for that line is 888-270-2127.

In the last 2 years I've gotten 1 SW card, 1 IHG, 1 Ink+, and 1 SPG biz among others listed below. Are you saying out of those only the SW card counts against the 5/24?
I'm counting my other cards and if so I may be able to apply for the CSR after all
The others - 2 AS, 1 Prestige, 1 UA, and 1 Red Aviator. The UA hits 2 years in Oct and I was planning on cancelling it. Should I use it as leverage to drop the CL or just go ahead and cancel it and then apply for CSR? My SW hits 1 year soon and I will be cancelling that one as well and it has a very high CL, so I could use that one as leverage to transfer the CL to CSR.
ETA: Forgot to mention the Aviator is 2 years in December so I actually may have to wait till Dec to apply. I plan on keeping that one especially if I can get a free AF again and miles to go with it. I guess I would be better applying for CSR next year so I can do the 2 years of $300 credit before I hit the AF again right?

If I have no Chase cards at all, Could I get the CSR and another one to pair with it back to back?

Unfortunately that's not the case. What I meant was you can will get the hyatt and ihg if you're over 5/24. But these, and any other personal cards will count towards your 5/24 limit.
Re Chase cards: yes, you can get 2 in 30 days. If you apply on the same day the hard pulls are combined into just 1.

Anybody get "unexpected error" when transferring spouse CUR to your account? I just started moving my CUR around to my CSR and all of my 3 cards worked fine but hers did not. No urgent need just curious. It ok'd the card number and the last name.
