Anybody get "unexpected error" when transferring spouse CUR to your account? I just started moving my CUR around to my CSR and all of my 3 cards worked fine but hers did not. No urgent need just curious. It ok'd the card number and the last name.

It's happened randomly to me before. I called Chase and had them do it over the phone.

If I were going to jump into the Chase world, where should I start. Was thinking of the new Reserve card, and in the reserve thread was mentioned pairing it with the freedom or freedom unlimited. Can I apply for one, then the other back to back, or do I need to let some time go by?

Can it be paired with like the Sapphire Preferred or is that a bad idea? Was liking the Reserve 100K offer and the Sapphire Preferred 60K offer, but wasn't sure how the pairing of cards worked. Any advice would be appreciated.

I also got this offer. Wondering if I should roll with it then upgrade it to the platinum later on or just wait for the 75 or 100k points bonus offer.

My recommendation would be to go for the CSR and the Chase Ink. (60,000 point offer).

This is because all of CSPs bonus earning categories are overlapped by CSR and where CSR is 3x, CSP is 2x. However, with the addition of Ink you add 3x at Gas stations and 5x at office supply stores. If you don't regularly spend on office supplies, you can easily buy grocery store or amazon or other merchant GCs at staples/office depot etc to get the 5x.

You could also go for Chase Freedom (15,000 point offer). This will earn 1x everywehre and 5x in quarterly rotating categories such as gas and restaurants and amazon.

If you want to keep things simple - go for Chase Freedom Unlimited (15,000 point offer) which earns 1.5x everywhere.

So my recommendation would be: 1) CSR + Ink 2) Freedom

Just make sure no more than 2 apps in 30 days. So CSR and Ink today. Freedom in a month.

Flew international business class on Delta

I'm younger (compared to others) and pretty sure they treated me like garbage mostly due to that, as if I didn't look like I belonged. It was full fare not reward redemption too.

That doesn't matter. On-board staff have no clue about this.

Dear credit card gurus,
I'm a student trying to get my credit started. I applied for chase freedom however I'm not sure if I'll be accepted.
In the scenario that I'm declined, are there any credit cards I can get that offer some type of points/cash back with a unestablished credit history?

I always recommend the Discover It for first time CC users and college students. It's easy to be accepted and they offer 1% cash back on everything with 5% revolving categories. Those categories are things like gas, groceries, Amazon, Department stores, etc. I had a great experience with it as a first card.

As someone else said, don't carry a balance! This cannot be emphasized enough. You are not spending fairy tale money. You are spending real money that you are responsible for and you will owe. That may seem overblown, but it's a slippery slope that some cannot avoid.

Enjoy man. Utilizing a credit card to earn rewards and build credit on expenses you are going to incur regardless is a great feeling. I'm working on a mobile app to help people just like you and it get's me excited to know there are so many out there we can impact.

I filled out a complain on Delta's website. It ws BS that when i boarded the plane I got completely ignored by the attendant with drinks who took orders in front and behind me. She didn't even acknowledge me when I tried to flag her down

At the LAX lounge, they were extremely rude at check in. I just got off a 12 hour flight, it was morning hours for me and they were being difficult. Probably shouldn't let hte East German lady work the desk

Only fly international on non domestic carriers. It's a much better class of service. United is supposed to be unveiling a new business and first class at the end of the year. It will be interesting to see how they compare then.

So I applied for and was approved for the CSR. Should I go ahead and apply for another one now, or wait a few days?

If it was up to me, there is no way I'd have booked Delta. Unfortunately, company policy is to use Delta

Just got the Reserve card... I think I'll like this better than the Platinum, as I don't utilize lounges. Called and closed my platinum to avoid the annual fee.

Love that the Travel Credit applies to anything and not having to be limited to "incidentals" or buying gift cards.

As an update;
Got denied for chase freedom (little to no credit history),applied to Discover It.

On a some what related note, why is Discover's market cap so much smaller than its competitors? Is it because they focus on students? Are the perks not competitive? Bad management?

Did you call to reconsider for the Freedom?

When you say competitors, do you mean Visa/Mastercard/Amex?

If I already have a CSP card, is it a no-brainer for me to apply for the CSR card and cancel the CSP? I would hit the sign-up bonus without a problem. The $450 annual fee is effectively only $150 if you spend $300 on travel right? My annual fee for the CSP is also coming in November. Seems like the right move, just not sure if I'm overlooking something.

Yes, it's essentially $150, but it's a 100k bonus offer w/ 50% more credit if used for travel.

So that is $1500 in travel for $150. Plus 3x points on dining and travel purchases. Cabs, uber, lyft, hotels, flights, all count as travel.

Plus $100 credit towards TSA Pre or Global Entry.

I'm going to downgrade my CSP, so I don't lose the points on it. For some reason, they said you can't roll the CSP points to the CSR.
