You don't lose the points. You lose the ability to transfer the points out to partners. Big deal for me as that's the only value I place on the points. I use the UR points to fund my United account when needed. I have no use for the UR "mall".
ETA:You'd still have to have some Chase branded card that gives you access to the UR mall to avoid complete loss of the points. I.E. Chase Freedom

I'm thinking the Citi Double Cash is the way to go since its damn near impossible for me to get a 2% value on miles/points while not traveling internationally.
Barclays arrival plus is often forgotten on here.
The $400 signup bonus and 2% back when redeemed for travel is going to win every time considering you can call and cancel it annually and just reapply if you want.

Well that's I meant, all he said is that he had the sapphire

LSUAfro,
did you make reservations at restaurants for Bora Bora? I am planning on doing Bloody Mary's and then mostly hotel options (maybe one other night out). Didn't know if I need to make any requests prior to going. Thanks.

Yep. I'll see if I still have the email. I made reservations just in case to get table/time I wanted. Worked out well as I heard the hostess turn people away at all of the restaurants.
I made Bloody Mary reservations at hotel.

Is there no benefit to booking directly through Chase to get the extra 20% worth of points (i.e. only needing 50,000 points for a 60,000pt flight or room)? Yall mention transferring to partner rewards programs but I didn't see any mention of using through Chase.
ETA: Or is my mind just making up this 20% bonus thing

That will only yield a 1.25 cpp valuation.

This will most often yield a minimum of 1.7 cpp. Usually more if you're a little savvy.

If you want to fly to Europe for example - a coach ticket would cost you anywhere between 1100-1700$, usually more. You can use 60K united miles (transferable from Chase) to book this flight. This has given you a "value" of 1.7-2.8 cents per point. If you are a little more "savvy" and you know how to work United's stopover rules, you can take multiple flights within Europe for a cash value of ~3000-3600. This has given you a value of 5-6c per point.
Value per point is significantly higher when redeeming awards on premium cabins.
Whereas with cash back you are limited to a max of 1.25 cents per point.

Ahh gotcha...so basically save the Chase points until you come across a booking that would yield a higher cent per point conversion

Its not that hard :)
Just find out where you want to go and see how many miles you need to get there. Then accrue those miles and book the award.

Bora Bora Thalasso Emails:
This is what I requested.
Again, I'd skip the Corail. It was pretty sub par for a $300 meal.

It was much less expensive and more remote when I went there. We stayed at Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach Resort. It was just about the only game in town back then.

Do you, or anyone, have experience paying cc bills directly with a money order? I'm reading where people can do it. I'm thinking of periodically going into a Chase branch and pay a cc with money order and then sometimes mailing a mo to an Amex cc.

Yes you can. Just keep in mind, too many payments, short-cycling CL and "unknown" / too many payment sources trigger some red flags.
WM BP is another option. Tread lightly with Citi and Chase. Never overpay.

Just got an invite to apply for the Barclay Luxury cards...titanium, black, and gold. What a ripoff...I think they missed the boat on this one. They really could've offered something new and exciting but the card benefits are meh. The gold is $995 a year.
