Yeah, but he's flying from Hawaii so he'll have at least 2 segments that would likely total over 25k Avios one way when the saver level AA award is only 17.5k.
Thanks for answering

I haven't done it yet but you aren't transferring the points, just buying the seat with the points so availability should match paid seat availability. Which by the way, is going to earn you AA miles so you are getting some points thrown back at you.
Ah, very nice. That's what I was hoping that it was just buying the seat but still I guess you have to find the right availability:

The thing to look out for is making sure the sollar cost Citi is showing for the flight matches the market price so you don't use too many points to cover it, but that's the issue with any portal.
I wonder if you use the portal to "buy" a flight with the bonus if you can upgrade to biz/1st with AA miles? I know they don't let you upgrade on miles if you bought an economy seat on miles, but would this be a paid for ticket allowing you to use miles? Hmm

It should be. You are still buying the seat from the airline's perspective.

There should be English on there too. I've gotten this offer again last week for the 3rd time this year.
I'm going to have to jump on this for their Hawaii options or something. You can get 2 business to Hawaii for what United would charge you for 1.
No need for hotel points as we can just crash at Sho Nuff's pad.

Teddy, I was thinking about having the lady get the Chase Hyatt card because we're planning a ski trip (possibly to the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek) this winter. Have you heard anything about people having trouble booking their two free nights, and it is possibly to attach her card to my Hyatt Gold account? It would simplify booking because I'm the only one with a premium Chase card that can transfer.

From the way I've seen the new Chase UR site set up, it seems to me that if you have someone set up in there as your wife/domestic partner, you can send your UR to her FF/Hotel account, because IIRC, it almost specifically implies that, even though I haven't done it yet. But I couldn't tell you if the programs themselves would raise a flag or not.
However, I'm going to say you won't be able to link a card in her name to your named account with Hyatt.
I believe the Hyatt nights are good if any regular room is available. There were a couple Hyatt hotels that were messing around and never letting a regular standard room open up by tying in some kind of benefit with the rooms like free parking (Hyatt San Francisco), but the HYatt execs supposedly cracked down on that. SO if there is a room, you should be able to book it, or cause a stink and get it.

It's not really that much of an issue. Just trying to figure out, functionally, how to string together a five or so night stay with the two nights from her sign up bonus and UR points on my account.
ETA: To answer your implied question, I've called Chase and they have no issue with my transferring points from her account to mine under the "domestic partner" clause (been together over a decade, live together). It's that I'm the one with the Hyatt Gold account, so linking her Chase Hyatt to my account would have saved me a bit of effort.

UR to UR is fine.
Did you happen to ask if your UR to her Hyatt account was fine? I've been curious about crossing it that way as that was what I was talking about. Their site makes it seem like that's cool too. And I believe it is.
Sorry if we're talking past each other.
I think we've addressed every combo
At worst you'll be booking the rooms separately

Honestly, I can't remember if I went UR to UR or if I went straight from her UR to my Hyatt. My guess is I did UR to UR then transferred to my Hyatt.
Functionally, what does it matter? Just go UR to UR then transfer

No argument here, but I was just curious. My wife has a good stash of United points but no premium Chase card. That would force me to go from my UR to her United account. I don't think Chase had a problem with that but I could see United having one.

What option are you talking about here, Korean? Who do you fly on?
Posted on 9/20/15 at 12:37 am to Sho Nuff
Ya if I headed that way Korean is definitely the way to go but booking through them is supposedly a bit difficult.
I bet I run into a million problems with my wife's last name legally not being the same as mine.

You're going to have more people asking for your marriage license than Obama had asking for his birth certificate

As I'm sitting here plotting/planning my 5 night stay at one of the most expensive ski resorts in the country, the thought struck me: why won't anyone listen when I try to teach them how to play this game?
And it's not like I walk around proselytizing. Someone will hear about a trip I'm taking/have taken and ask me how I put it together. As soon as I tell them that I didn't pay for a thing, it was all credit card points, and I'd be happy to teach them, you'd think I'd just told them that Voldemort did it.

These folks probably think it is some stupid scam, while their wives are probably taking Advocare.

Same thing happens to me.
One buddy came on board after I booked Thailand in business class.
I think the biggest obstacle is a total misunderstanding as to how credit and credit scores work, and also probably the idea that points are hard to redeem. Since they don't understand that part, everything you say sounds like it would have extremely negative impacts on them. From there, you are trying to dig out from a hole you aren't responsible for, etc.
Then as other guy says, it becomes akin to a scam, or as if you're doing something unethical. Nevermind a bank would throw you out of your home without hesitation, but whatever.
I gave everybody a go but at the end of the day, the less of them the more for us.

Tried to explain to a business partner while on a trip recently... Temporarily had them on board and then the "that sounds like too much effort".
Btw, I'll need help booking some killer vacations soon.
I'll have 120k in Amex and 120k in CSP points.
