Is Capital One Quicksilver a good credit card? They're offering 1.5% cash back - sounds like a good deal to me.

It's OK but there's better options out there like the Citi Double Cash which gives 2% back (1% when you buy, 1% when you pay)

Or even the rotating cash back cards like the Discover It and Chase Freedom

150k Platinum Amex offer. Think I'm going for it. I'll call it in later.
$20k spend and $450 AF not waived.

That'll be fun.

I've been testing out Top Cashback since they have .5% on VGCs. Might want to check that out for variety purposes

Nice. I read on that the other day. I'll probably look in to that soon.
I've been tapping out the Office Depot Vanillas. 6 at a time = $580. I make $20 and almost 3k UR points per trip. Silly. I've got a drawer full of them .

My wife gets annoyed when she randomly checks Mint and there is $1,000 or so of manufactured spend sitting on a CC waiting to cycle out.

She'd throw a tantrum with that amount.

Probably in the middle of the amazing race "We owe 15k on our credit cards!!!!!"

No kidding. Does the Redcard count toward minimum spend? I don't know. I need to check. That could knock out 15k of it.

I just finished out my $1k in square on that deal. I guess I could have gone harder but damn Vanillas being harder to liquidate annoys me and I don't like hanging onto those things too long.

But ya 1200 × 5 was a nice bump.

Can't CC load any more.

You're going to do it the Ole GC way.

But ya it probably would have counted, just no points for the spend.

I can't even tell you the look on my wife's face when she saw my boxes of gift cards and receipts in my truck. It was probably about 100 gift cards of the $500 variety haha.

I've got about 5 grand of business expense I can throw at it. But yeah...probably looking at about $13k worth of gift cards. Fun. I'll check out the Topcashback.

Just an update on bora bora.
I booked the outgoing flight today. Will travel first class to LAX, and business to ppt. Total cost 62,500/person points +$5.
Some advice to others...
Book your flights as early as possible. I booked on opening today, and it was a relatively easy process.

I was initially told there were no seats available (after an hour on hold) even though I could see them on expert flyer. I did the aa call back option so I didn't have to wait on hold, and that worked very well. The next rep booked LAX to ppt no problem but stated there were no saver rewards available to get to LAX. I got her to hold the LAX to PPT reservation, and I searched individual segments in the AA website to get to LAX. By searching individual segments I was able to find a my award saver to LAX. Super excited. Feel free to ask any questions.

I would be too. There are worst things in life than being stuck in Bora Bora.

Good luck on the return booking
