This might be the dumbest statement I have heard in years.

True, and I know all of us OT ballers pay off the cards every month (I did and still do for the little bit I use it). But a large percentage of people don't do this...and are in debt up to there eyeballs.

Then you should probably reword this:
quote:

if you carry and use a credit card daily, then you aren't very smart financially

to say:

If you aren't very smart financially then it's probably not a good idea to use a credit card every day

i have to carry some cash because my son is in sports. so i need it to get in gates and for concessions most of the time. it seems it's gone as soon as i get it no matter how much i get. i hate it.

i use my card for everything else.

You must hang out with some bankrupt, poor people if they are hasseling you for using credit/debit all the time. I usually keep $20 cash with me at all times, but I always use my check card...as credit, for the Chase reward points. You wouldn't believe how many points I have racked up by hitting "credit" instead of debit over the past year.

i think its just a "status" thing in peoples minds. you don't need a debit card/credit card. it isn't really easier. good luck with your public image...I always think its best to keep myself as invisible as possible.

The IRS knows everything you do...big brother is watching.

That is just retarded. It's more of a "I don't wanna carry a bunch of cash around with me" type of thing. It is much easier for me to swipe a card than make sure I always have enough cash on hand. Also...ever been robbed before? Well I have and I would be shite out of luck if I had a bunch of cash with me. At least if they take your card, you make one phone call right away.

I keep 50 bucks or so stashed away in my wallet for emergencies, but other than that, always use my debit or credit cards.

I make money off of my credit cards, so I think it's financially stupid to not use mine.

I use cash for my monthly expenditures like food for lunch, etc. I use debit card for gasoline only or if I make any big purchases. It makes it easier to stick to a budget.

I put EVERYTHING on our Visa rewards card. Monthly bills, daily purchases, you name it. In addition, I pay $40 a year to up the rewards we get from 1.25 miles per dollar spent to 2 miles per dollar. I pay it off every month, and don't incur any extra "penalties" outside of the $40 a year I voluntarily give Capital One.

As a result, I haven't paid to fly in over 4 years. Trips for the wife and I, away games to Seattle, South Carolina and the Cap One Bowl, etc. All from the plastic.

sorry, I am Dave Ramsey convert. Been there, done that with the cards and financing of everything. I pay cash for everything, and I don't owe a dime to anyone. I sleep good at night.
