Early 40s, earn about 90% of household income.
Finance degree. Worked in consumer finance (branch manager, district manager) for 14 years. Currently an executive relationship manager ( think account manager who doesn’t sell)
Looking to find something in the $110k range…
I like the account manager role, but trying to find something that pays more.(thanks Joe!!!)
Don’t have a lot of connections, and in between BR and Hammond
Would be great if I got multiple responses telling me if opportunities, lol, but not expecting that.
Just some suggestions of where to start the search…

Think about moving to the side that sells. When you produce revenue you typically earn more.

Yea I’ve thought about sales.
Only problem with me paying the bills, food, etc - they usually start low base, and have to build
If I could find something with decent base + commission that would work.
And why the hell dont job ads have the salary? Infuriating.

Is this a banker? You work at a bank or loan company doing loans?
Do you not have other banking options? The banks by me sure seem to burn through people moving them around or whatever, there’s gotta be more money than $110k in banking career isn’t there?

Consumer finance. I managed a bank for a short time as well….
Money isn’t that good tbh. Hard to make over $100k if you haven’t been there forever.
That’s kind of the point… I don’t have years to build up to that. If I stayed at my job now eleven, I’d be ok. Not wealthy , but not poor.
You just don’t know what you don’t know…. Always up to learn about new and different opportunities

Sorry for my ignorance but I still don’t understand. You work for a larger company helping people with loans or a payday loan place or what? It’s not exactly easy to segue from one career making $100k to another without some sort of relatable skill or ability.
ETA: you have to always be planning and training for the next 3-5 years or else you are going to hit a ceiling career wise and end up needing to take a step or two back to open up room for new growth

Consumer finance (mid tier credit - think 550-650 credit score) in between a bank (excellent to good credit) and payday ( credit sucks so bad they rarely check it)

Negative ghostrider: I have a 6 figure base and make 6 figures in commissions as an Account Manager.. Get into B2B or industrial sales for a major corporation. Technology is big money and pays great money!

You come in here looking for suggestions and genuine advice and yet you get political and make dismissive remarks.
Don’t be a jerk.

You have to get out of consumer lending. Or the retail bank branch type job
If you’re going to ever make money in finance it has to have a business or commercial side to it.
Can you find a business banker role? Just somewhere that you can cut your teeth, get some training and learn some basic business credit skills? Some of the larger banks might be the best place to look. They typically have good training programs. Get the training there and then bolt to a smaller community bank. Earning potential on the commercial side is sky high.

Great advice…. When you say commercial side, what exactly do you mean?
I’m familiar with commercial lending obviously, but are their other roles?
To be fair, my banking experience was less than a year, as I found a higher paying job. Although in hindsight, should have stayed, as I was laid off 2.5 years after….

Anything that’s non-consumer.
Start out in credit underwriting if you can find something there. If not, then look for a small business banker type role. That way you can train and learn at the same time. Those roles have become glorified order takers but if you take a small business banker role with the mindset you’re going to learn and bolt into a true commercial role later on then it’s not bad.
Anything commercial real estate will make you good money as well on the banking side.
