I have been looking for a 2018-2019 F150 for several months. Nothing fancy, used XLT preferably 30,000 miles or under. I’m also not the least bit picky on color. I have located several matching my description from 25-28k roughly. I would like to stay under 30k. However, these all seem to be former rental/fleet vehicles. How much should this deter me from buying? Something about it says go ahead and buy. But I also picture myself saying “drive it like a rental”. Just looking for the MB’s opinion on the matter. Thank you

Can only give you a relevant anecdote. In 2012 I bought a 2011 F150 XLT with about 30k miles that belonged to a rental co. Put 100k miles on it and kept it for 6 years. Never had any major issues.

That does make sense. Just thinking of the possible individuals that may drive the shite out of it. But you’re right, who am I to think the previous owner didn’t do the same

I understand your concerns. But if it looks good cosmetically, I doubt they've done much damage from any misuse in 30K Miles.

Check Hertz and Enterprise car sales. I doubt you will find a better deal.

Thanks for the feedback, seems pretty reassuring.

You can buy a new stx for 30k. It will have everything the XLT does.

If you haven't check over in Texas. A friend bought his son a used truck and found better deals in Texas.

They may have been driven by someone that didn’t pay for it...but rental cars and government fleets are usually maintained pretty close to manufacturer’s specs.

This.

But don't get the 10 speed trans. Google it. There are problems with that transmission's shifting that Ford can't fix.

I don’t think anyone is driving a fleet like an idiot because it’s not their vehicle and their job is on the line.

The only thing to worry about fleet vehicles is that many of them likely sit with the engine on for a long time and AC running but not moving, picture a construction guy. But yeah I don’t think buying a fleet should be a concern these days.

I have been driving one for over two years with no issues. It is a fleet vehicle.

These comments are useless. The guy told you he wants to buy used.

Fleet vehicles also get the shite beat out of them. I'd never buy a vehicle from any of the fleets that I've seen throughout my years working at several companies

Even with low miles and good maintenance, they all are rough

ETA: That is to say, buying a fleet/rental is just as big a crap shoot as buying used from a private party. It will come down to the specific vehicle you're looking at.

In 2015, I bought one from Lamarque that was owned by Enterprise. No issues.

If you're actually in Sulphur, take a look at dealerships in Houston. Lot's of inventory. Easy to negotiate online.

I just bought a brand new 2019 F-150. All of Ford was running a special for 0% interest for 72 months. Not sure if your price tag is note driven or you intend to pay cash so that'll be a factor.

I disagree. He said how much he’s interested in spending, no harm in letting him know he can get something new for nearly the same price and be worry free.

He can’t get a new XLT for near $25k. But yes I agree I guess it doesn’t hurt to let him know that you can get other new vehicles at that price. Sounds like he’s interested in an XLT though.
