Looking to purchase 2022 MDX in a matter of days. My local dealer isn’t budging. Willing to drive.

Internet changed car buying. They know that if you are talking they have what you want. You already searched everywhere.
It sucks too because they all inflate everything

I've had fairly good luck buying cars online the last several that I've gotten. Test drove locally, then searched online inventory in larger markets, found the vehicles I wanted, negotiated all over email, did the paperwork via Fed Ex and had the cars shipped here for about $700. One I got out of Dallas and the other San Antonio. Got a much better price than anything the local dealers could offer each time.

Huh? The internet is in favor of the buyer, usually.
OP, talk to multiple dealers in a comfortable radius of you and get them in a bidding war with each other.........is what I’d tell you if there wasn’t a chip shortage. The car market is similar to the housing market right now so good luck

David Favre owns the Baton Rouge Acura dealership. Great guy and Hugh LSU fan. Those MDX’s are really popular so I imagine they aren’t coming off the price too much. He may be able to give you a great deal on a trade in. Call them.

Fabre.
And correct that he is a great guy.

We bought my wife's mdx from the dealer in Baton rouge and had a great experience. She did the entire thing via email and text. They even drove it to us in Mandeville to sign the papers.
The new orleans Acura dealer is horrible. Stay far away.

I mean, if I was a dealer i wouldnt come down much. You're shopping for next year's model of a pretty nice car.

Just tried trading my wife's 2019 MDX in on a new one. They aren't budging much at all and that was from four different dealerships so we passed.
If you're anticipating getting a great deal, you're buying a car in the wrong calendar year. Way too much biden bucks floating around coupled with a huge shortage of both new and used cars equals dealerships finna eat.

You're very unlikely to get much if anything off a 2022 MDX. New generation, they are in very short supply still right now and are very popular. If you want to deal, find a previous gen 2020 (they didnt make 2021 models).
In Atlanta I just looked at our 3 fairly good size acura dealers on the north side of ATL and all 3 are very low on their 2022 MDX inventory, like 6, 7 and 11 at each dealer. They arent going to budge much if any on price on inventory that low with something they know they can sell within a few weeks of it hitting lots at sticker basically.
Your best bet on a 2022 deal is a demo model but I highly doubt any dealer is selling one right now so close to them hitting dealerships.

We looked at a new 2020 mdx base model this weekend and liked it. Are the 22’s a big change from the previous model? The looked about the same

Totally redesigned interior......personally I'd jump on a 2020 as they are pretty nice as well. The major thing on the 2022 is just a larger and more tech savy screen system.

Yeah pretty significant, new generation is almost always a noticeable difference.
Now some things stayed pretty much the same - V6 is still basically the same (power and all). A lot of stuff is upgraded/larger from previous gen though like normal. Slightly more leg room, slightly more cargo space...but the biggest thing to me looking at the 2022 vs. previous gen is its got a way more luxurious feel to it on the inside...although I will say the new touchpad interface for the infotainment system could be a deal breaker for some. Why they went with that vs. a touchscreen is still beyond me. It's one of those "have to get used to it" for most people.
BTW - wife and I have a 2014 MDX SH-AWD which is the 1st year of the previous gen model to the 2022 now. Literally about to hit 100k miles on it this week and it's been bulletproof. We bought it used with 39k miles on it back in 2017 for $25k. Great cars, and getting SH-AWD is an absolute no brainer. Do not get the FWD models.

Good to know. The only reason we are looking at Acura is because the telluride and palisades are near impossible to find and you’ll basically pay the same amount as the Acura

Have had 2 Acura's with this and their AWD platform is likely the best of any automaker maybe Audi is better but that would be it.

It's because it's a very active system, not passive like a lot of AWD systems. It literally turns the MDX into one of the best handling SUVs on the road.
It's one of the few SUVs I'd definitely get AWD on even if in a non-snowy climate because it completely changes the dynamics on the way it drives (in a very positive way).
When we bought our MDX my wife drove a tech package FWd model then drove a base AWD trim and when she left the tech package FWD she wasn't impressed, when she then drove the SH-AWD base trim she was like "yep, this is it, let's get it"

I’d agree with that. The top three brands (outside of exotic brands like Porsche, Ferrari, etc.) in most performance tests tend to be Audi, Acura and Subaru. Although they have slightly different approaches and systems, they each have an overall focus on torque vectoring (without introducing “torque steer” at the front) and power/traction distribution - especially on their performance models.
I’ve read good things about Ford’s “Intelligent AWD” too, but they seem to be in a distant 4th place to the top 3.

Speaking of acura SUVs..
anyone else have constant issues with the carplay not recognizing when your phone is plugged in or experienced "Limp mode" yet?

Yup.....wife's shits the bed all the time. Plug it right back in and it works, but it just drops for no damn reason at all. We tried a new chord and noticed a difference, but there's still a drop.
