I think this would be a profitable venture in my town as there is a ton of kids and lot of foot traffic in town daily by middle schoolers and high schoolers. There is a space available by one of the local ice cream shops and toy shops.

Trying to get an idea of how much start up capital would be needed outside rent and time commitment.

The one in my hood went under, and it seemed perpetually full.

All retail is brutal, doesn't strike me as a good idea offhand.

Putting your thumb on the scale will increase profits. For some reason, activities such as this tend to be illegal.

Seriously, you would need to sell a lot of candy to cover the overhead for this venture.

It would take selling a ton of candy to turn a profit

How many pound of candy can you sell to fat kids before they need more? See lots of highs and lows…then failure.

I think candy shops and such can work in diatom areas that have high foot traffic. I just imagine that managing it would be a pretty time intensive task for someone that has a real job.

if 100 came in and bought candy every day I just couldn’t see how you could make it.

What about flower shops? My girlfriend is dead set on starting one but I have no advice for her other than you have to sell a lot to make a profit.

Be prepared to go help girlfriend and work your arse off around Valentines and Mothers Day. You’ll be trimming rose stems until your fingers bleed, then driving all over hell for deliveries. Source: neighbor worked at a flower shop.
