Every now and then I see a thread pop up where someone brought up a barely known company that has huge upside potential with very little downside risks and it appears most of them fizzle out.

Anyone ever nail one and make bank, or any amusing life lessons of money lost on a hopeless case? I've never been early enough to even try to get in on a company like Aerotyne.

Ticker symbol HANS (Hansen Natural) in 2003 which is now MNST (Monster Energy). Sold all the stock in 2012.

Grinrod shipping was a huge success for me.

Currently I am sitting on a very nice unrealized gain in JOBY Aviation.

I suggest yall give JOBY a look. Very interesting, new market.

Lost a very large chunk of change when APP (American Apparel) went bankrupt years ago. It was the hot stock at the office that all us youngsters were gonna get rich off of.

Had a couple huge lucky hits during COVID that I actually managed to get out of at great profits even though I had visions of lambo's dancing in my head (SBFM and ABML). SBFM return was over 1000% in a few months. Just stupid.

I put a lot of those profits in my two current gambles which are down ~10% on SLI and up ~20% on NWBO so no real results there.

All in all I'm up a decent amount on my super high risk speculative plays because of the COVID luck. Take that insanity out and I'm down pretty big.

Y'all stop taking my advice.

I bought nvda ipo, convinced my stepdad to buy as well. We both had week hands and sold for slight profit in 2002 or so.

Step grandmother still has like 1000+ shares before splits from 1999, hopefully she remembers i brought up the idea in the will :)

I bought AXON stock when it was in the $60s. I sold it in the $80s. It's now sitting at $225. It's the girl that got away for me.

I knew a guy that worked in the Fort Worth PD IT dept. AXON had just released a version of Virtual Reality and I got to demo it. It was pretty awesome how realistic it was. The guy with the product said that AXON was relatively new to the industry, but that the competitors are decades behind their development. Read up on the company and bought 100 shares. Around the same time was when I was dabbling in the Ancient Tiger sham. Everything went up initially then it fell back down so I sold everything and decided stock gambling wasn't my thing. Learned a few lessons through that stint. I still think AXON is a solid company and stock, but when I'm buying stocks, I'm looking for something that will go "to the moon" since individual stocks for me are just play money.

I bought a bunch of NIO stock a couple years ago at $38. I thought I was buying the dip.

Now I’m solely in ETFs and index funds. no more gambling for me.
