Then keep the kid at home where he/she belongs at that age.

Kids who do not attend some sort of pre-k, supposedly, have worse educational outcomes. Mine went to a church pre-k and could read and do math at a “second grade level” when they entered kindergarten (I put that in quotes because I think the levels are kinda low in govt testing).

That said, it cost me about 150 a week and it was a 4 hour a day thing that didn’t include food. Not sure why OP is upset.

I woulf guess that has has alot to do with the kids exposure (or lack of) to competent adults at home.

There are definitely some advantages to keeping your child home for their first few years but there are at a disadvantage if their first year of school is Kindergarten.

Maybe you should apply for governmental assistance if this is taking such a hit on you.

Go make another $1560 a year ($30/week) and you’ll be ahead when the kiddo is home for summer. You’re showing your arse complaining over a $6 meal that includes snacks

I’m kinda embarrassed to admit this, but I’ve grown to appreciate higher tuition rates because it separates my children from kids of other parents who complain about silly expenses like paying for lunch.

Eh. Nevermind. there's no way I can agree with this and add more without sounding like a dick.

You could wake up 20 minutes earlier every day to fix lunch/snacks and spend and extra 20 minutes at the grocery store. You might save a dollar a day. $30 a week is not bad at all.

Welcome to parenthood. People have know idea just how expensive it is u til they live it.

Yep. I pay about $9k for pre-k 4 tuition. Then I have to pay early care and aftercare. Lunch is $5/day if my kid doesn’t brown bag it. I spent another $1,750 on summer camps. This week I’m spending $250 on a sitter to stay with my son bc summer camp is over and school hasn’t started. Then either me or the wife miss work or hire sitters for the week of thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas, Mardi Gras etc. My total the last 12 months is $14-15k for one of my kids before the private school does what private schools do and ask for donations on top of all this. frick it. I just talked myself into a drink. I’m depressed.

The $30 is for one meal a day

So $6 a day? That's really not too bad. What's the rest of your tuition and fees a month?

have been paying $185/w up til now. Now Im getting "free" prek but it's still $120 all in.

I understand the $93/w before/after care but $30 a week for prek lunch is bullshite.

Holy shite dude. You're literally cheaper than anyone I know and you're complaining about nothing .

shite,I’d love to only pay $30/week for lunch and free pre-k.

But no, my wife and I are penalized because we are married and have jobs. So I have to pay damn near $800/month to send my child to pre-k.

Pre-K is way in my rear view

My wife was a stay st home and we had childcare and pre-K. I loved it. Nothing is better than a happy wife and kids. I have no clue what it costs, but it was worth it.
