I recall seeing a picture of Zach at fall practice in a LSU helmet.
You didn't.

I definitely know the guy in your picture. Was friends with him when he was at LSU our freshman year.

I don't blame the kid. I blame MLB. They continue to destroy college baseball with their antics.
I wish all former Tigers well but I won't be watching any of them as I no longer give a rat's a$$ about MLB!

His overall effect on the LSU program was negative, whatever his reasons., I don't give a shite about him or his career.

Tiger, not a Tiger. Doesn't matter, he is a Dodger, so I won't root for him.

Very cool. He really loved his time at LSU and misses LSU and all the friends he made. It's too bad the baseball team ended up not having a spot for him after inviting him to try to walk on.

Yep as was Tyrann Mathieu, but they both got kicked off the team.
Mathieu actually played though

I actually threw with him a few times during the fall when he was going through the process.

That's awesome. Then you know how bad he wanted it. He did his job and got a lot of outs during the scrimmages he pitched in. Hard to believe they couldn't find a spot for a kid who didn't give up a single run during the fall scrimmages but that's also a testament to just how deep the pitching staff is at LSU. Thanks for working out with him.

I remember the Zach Lee situation. What happened was the Dodgers took him 28th overall, but Lee stated before the draft it would take around 5 mil to keep him from enrolling at LSU, which is top 5 draft pick money, not 28th. When the Dodgers took him 28th, everybody thought it was a wasted pick because the Dodgers owner was going through a nasty divorce and the team ownership/worth was being split up. It was rumored the Dodgers took the pick so they could get a 1A draft pick in the following years compensatory round, which directly follows the first round. Lee, as a result of him not expecting to be signed at 5 mil by a team struggling with finances, enrolled at LSU, and got ready to become a future QB. At the last minute the Dodgers throw him 5.25 mil to sign and he does. He was on campus late that summer before the August 15th/16th signing deadline, but left for baseball once the Dodgers ponied up. LSU was ultimately leverage, but nobody in their damned mind thought the bankrupt MLB owned Dodgers were going to pony up 5.25 mil for a guy they drafted 28th overall!!!
ETA: I still wish the kid the best. Him not being an option at QB did sting, but we recovered. All parties came out ok, so I have no ill will toward him. He was a Tiger and will always be in my book.

Did nothing for LSU and is not from Louisiana. Don't care.

Thanks for putting things in perspective again, something many here seem to forget. I have no doubt that Lee very much intended to play football and baseball at LSU and he was on campus in an LSU uniform putting in the work to make that happen - so in my book he's a former Tiger. It's a bummer for the fans that we never got to see him play as a Tiger but shite happens.

this also prevented them from signing their other highly touted pick from the 6th round...Kevin Gausman.
