Thank you skipM for a beautifully rational post from an opposing fan's perspective. Some of our fans are just plain miserable human beings. I don't even know why they follow the program.

LSU was one careless Noel Devine play of losing last night's game
Dude.... just about every championship team in every sport in the world is "one careless play" away from not being a champion. So what? That's how the game is played. And BTW, there's a reason that careless play never happened - your defense!

skip,
us rational thinkers get every word you posted and appreciate your point of view. its good to get an unbiased outsider perspective. one thing you must learn on the rant is that 75% of these people are ignorant and completely unreasonable.

I'm doubting this.
And such a typical response from someone who boo's their own team.

Thanks for the words Skip, I'm glad you had a good road trip.
I don't know what to say about the way our fan base has changed. We used to be a very passionate and supporting fan base, and if there were weak spots on the team (and there always are), we focused on the strengths.
Going into this game I was excited, and I for one still consider a game against a team like WVU to be all about one thing- winning any way you can. We did. I think that's great.
It'd be nice to have a strong, consistant offense, but that just isn't the case this year. Does that mean the season is lost? NO! Despite all the disrespect constantly flung at our opponents (we shoulda won by 50, our coach is terrible), I at least think we (LSU) is playing well coaching-wise right now. As in, we have possibly the best defense in the country. Possibly the best special teams too. We have a rb who likely will get 1000 yds. We have an inconsistent qb, but very dangerous receivers, and if we keep the other team honest we should be able to win every time we step on the field.
I hear some people say "wait til we face real teams", but ya know what? Your team (WVU) has some serious studs on offense, and we held them down. Some people complain that Devine was hurt, but there were plenty of times he just had nowhere to go as soon as he had the ball. That's good D.
Also, some of the other "chumps" we played are showing they are pretty good too. MSU scared Auburn and whipped Georgia. Vandy, say what you like, has shown it can put points up against others. Against us, once we scored 1 field goal they were in serious trouble.
I don't see much changing over the course of the year, and that actually doesn't look so bad. If we get 13 points a game, I could still see a 10 win season and possible conference title game, seriously. If we get over 20, I would not be shocked at a BCS slot.

exactly. This didn't happen overnight, hence: the boos.

Well, from an outsider's perspective. You beat WVU on more than just raw talent. I mean, your guys didn't just walk out there and "wing it". Someone is responsible for the game planning and preparation that stopped WVU. That would be your coaching staff. And another perspective - you haven't lost yet.
That would be the defense, not the side of the ball I was referring to.
And we haven't lost yet, but we know it's just a matter of time. We'd LOVE to be wrong about this (despite what some believe), but we're not.
Maybe we'll meet again in the Peach or <shudder> Capitol One Bowl.
